Delhi Government To Impose Congestion Tax To Efficiently Utilize Public Transport

Delhi, the capital of our country is probably the fastest emerging one of all the metropolitans and has largest infrastructure as well. Transportation is not a problem in our city as we have a good network of buses for commuting in the city and providing a helping hand is the Delhi Metro which accounts for more than 50% of daily commuting population.

But inspite of the appreciable efforts made by the central government in changing the state of our city by introducing Metro and investing in infrastructure, the congestion scenario remains the same. We still get caught in traffic jams stretching up to several kilometers and sometimes curse the system for the situation.

In fact Delhi has the widest roads amongst all the cities across the country but we still face the same sort of congestion at many places. We also see people commuting on the roads in big cars as the drivers themselves with their other family members having separate cars.

It is certainly a subject of debate as it not only accounts for wastage of fuel but also for increased traffic and congestion on the roads. Such cars which choke the roads could also be used for more than one person thereby reducing the running cost as well as the number of cars.

Now the catch is that Delhi government is considering a proposal for imposing Congestion Tax on vehicles arriving into the center of the city and the idea comes from a couple of European cities including London where this imposition is already in practice and has been successful enough. This way more and more car owner which drive their own vehicles will be encouraged to use public transport.

The official word emerging from the Delhi's Principal Secretary and Transport Commissioner RK Verma who say, "There is congestion and we are looking at various things to reduce it. We are studying in detail the plans for congestion charges which are at a conceptual stage," he added. Government officials said that the special team has proposed different options to introduce the congestion charges in the city based on the principle of "those who congest must pay"

We do hope the government as well as the citizens to come to a feasible alternative and do not wish to see any protests against this imposition. It also known as a fact that with this tax implementation the freedom of door step convenience of a every car owner will be lost so we look forward for getting a word from the government in context with the same soon.

Ford Fiesta 2011 New Model Revealing Event Live Webcast

Ford is one car maker which stays ahead with the technology and modern gadgetry. This mindset is quite evident when you see the cars which are equipped with the gadgets like the Bluetooth quipped stereo systems and likes of it. In the recent invite for the Ford Fiesta 2011 unveiling event which will happen on 14th of April 2011, media got an invite with a QR code (like a 2D barcode) on it. The QR code pointed to the video invite which was recorded and uploaded on the web, which is quite an innovative way of sending out an invite. With the tech-savvy attitude of Ford, it has announced the Live Webcast of the 14th April event on its Facebook page.

IPL Cricket 2011 Deccan Chargers Team Partners With Yamaha

Yamaha partners with the Deccan Chargers IPL 2011 Cricket team for promotion. Yamaha will be the official team partner with DC involving advertisement and promotion for one year. Yamaha will promote its products and brands using the Team name and Logo. Yamaha's logo will be displayed on helmets and caps of the players.

Yamaha will get access to the players for two days for promotion events of Yamaha. Commenting on this partnership, National Business Head, Yamaha India Mr. Roy Kurian quoted:

With cricket being the unofficial religion in India, what better way to be associated with the game than the mega event – IPL. Peugeot Uncovered 508 Sedan For China- India Launch Soon

Peugeot has recently unveiled its sedan Peugeot 508 in China ahead of the Shanghai auto show. The sedan is expected to head to India via CBU route in first half of 2011 at a price tag of close to Rs. 20 Lakhs. The Peugeot 508 will compete against the Honda Accord, Skoda Laura, Maruti Suzuki Kizashi and other sedans in this price segment.

The Indian variant of the 508 is expected to look similar to the Chinese variant with luxury and safety features. The French automaker Peugeot is in talk with Indian state governments to set up its plant in India.

Apart from the Peugeot 508, the Peugeot 3009 MPV is also expected to debut in India along with 508 sedan. The 508 is powered by a powerful diesel heart.

Nissan’s Infiniti Brand Luxury Cars In India Soon

Nissan has already been working hard on establishing a good position but inspite of being so dedicated towards its work, the Japanese major is not able to strike the right cords. Nissan Micra was the latest addition which failed to attract the customers because of its high pricing and after the price hike on Micra by up to 2% with effect from 11th April 2011, we are worried how will it manage to stay in the game.

Considering the identity problem seriously now, the brand plans to bring its premium car brand Infiniti to India. According to Autocar India the plan is due since 2007 but owing to the 110% import duty, Nissan was quite reluctant until now.

According to Nissan with the recent pacing up of premium car market, it is the perfect time to introduce Infiniti to the Indian buyers. Alike BMW and Mercedes-Benz , a good thing about Infiniti is that it also has a division specialized in performance machines named as IPL or Infiniti Performance Line. In context with the Indian condition, some of its technologies such as Anti Scratch Advanced Paint (ASAP) and Around View which is system allowing the driver to see a complete image of the car's surroundings, could be extremely useful.

Competition wise Acura owned by Honda, Lexus owned by Toyota , BMW, Mercedes-Benz and Audi are on the list of the toughest competitors with BMW on the top and in order to make a mark in the market Infinity will have to produce performance along with luxury and that too at the best possible price.

Italian Superbike Manufacturer Vyrus To Launch Bikes In India

We have seen Koenigsegg, Bugatti, Harley Davidson, Bentley, Maserati etc. coming to India automobile market and several others will be making their way to Indian shores soon. The products that these automakers offer are exclusive and exotic and probably the most sought after ones.

One such recent announcement was Hollister's Motorcycles coming to India which is one of the most distinct custom chopper manufacturer in the world and has offerings in the price range of above Rs. 40 Lakh. Soon joining hands with it in the exotic two-wheeler segment would be Vyrus, which is an Italy based giant popular for its top notch and extreme engineered products.

Completely radical and futuristic are the rods that describe the appearance of Vyrus's products and with no surprise all this engineering and styling comes at a very high price. Bimota, which is another bike manufacturer had been associated with Vyrus for an appreciable time, before making a split and during that very time achieved a successful as well as unconventional hub-center steering system shown in the above picture.

After the disassociation carrying forward the development done by the two, Vyrus introduced two new motorcycles under its own brand name which featured the same steering arrangement. Vyrus 984 C3 2V and Vyrus 985 C3 4V are the bikes we are talking about which are very much expected in India. While the former features a Ducati sourced 2 valve air-cooled engine producing peak power of 90.5 BHP, the latter also sports another Ducati heart with 4-valves and producing 150 BHP of power.

Besides the above two Vyrus 987 C3 4V is also assumed to be getting added to the line-up soon. This one is available in three different variants with 170bhp /163 kilo, 184bhp / 158 kilos, and a supercharged one with 211bhp /154 kilos of statistics respectively.

Volkswagen Used Cars & Car Finance Business In India Gets RBI Permission

After almost a whole year when BMW commenced its pre-owned cars business, another German giant Volkswagen is all set to step into the same which would eventually ease out the process of buying a Volkswagen product. For this very purpose the brand had applied for a license and the Reserve Band Of India has permitted it to start off with its Non-Banking Finance Company (NBFC).

With the help of this new subsidiary the brand will start financing pre-owned cars by as early as 2012 and for the same, it plans to invest an appreciable amount of Rs.120 crore In India.

As being reported by Hindustan Times, Volkswagen Finance India Board Chairman Joern Achim Kurzrock said, "We have received the license from RBI to start our NBFC. We will start financing pre-owned cars from January 2012." He added, "India is one of the fastest-growing economies, Volkswagen Finance wants to position itself in the market as a mobility provider," Further he mentioned that the sole aim of this financial arm is to support customers while looking for a pre-owned car which would eventually boost the Volkswagen Group's sales.

Existing major players like Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai, Mahindra & Mahindra, Mercedes-Benz and BMW have already forayed into this business with establishments named as Maruti Suzuki True Value, Mahindra First Choice, Hyundai Advantage, Mercedes-Benz Proven and BMW Premium Selection and the name of Volkswagen's would come anytime soon.

Volkswagen Financial Services (VWF) is the dedicated subsidiary for providing financial services for Skoda, Audi and Volkswagen Itself and actively functions in 38 countries and after receiving the license from RBI, the financial arm will start its operation from March–end onwards.

Nissan Micra Small Car Price Increased In April 2011

Despite of the appreciable efforts made by Nissan , the small car Nissan Micra has failed to generate enough sales for the brand to give it a new identity and make its position firm in the market. This upcoming news might add a bit more trouble to the already falling sales figures as it says that the brand has officially announced a 0.5% to 2% price hike on respective models of Micra.

The hike is applicable for both Nissan Micra Petrol as well as Nissan Micra Diesel and will fall in the range of Rs.2,500 to Rs.11,170 with effect from today i.e. 11th of April, 2011.

Justifying the price hike Mr. Kiminobu Tokuyama,M.D. & CEO, Nissan Motor India, said, "There has been a steady increase in the input cost over a period of time. It has come to a situation now that the price hike is inevitable and we have decided to increase the price of Micra."

The car is just not doing enough for the Indian customers and they find other cars like Hyundai i20 and Ford Figo way more potent. Another factor is the high cost of the car which is directly affecting its sales and with the new hike taking effect from today, we doubt how Micra would be able to survive in our price sensitive small car segment.
