XENATEC Maybach Coupe Shows Up At Geneva Posted: 25 Feb 2011 07:36 AM PST German coachbuilder Xenatec who made a lot of noise this past year with its Maybach Coupe announced that they will showcase an example of this ultra-lux vehicle at the 2011 Geneva Motor Show which is due in less than a week. This Cruiserio model is a customer-specified one-off featuring a special a matte finish applied by hand in several layers to create a shimmering brass tone. The overall paint finish is completed by a delicate silver along the vehicle's flanks. Of course these images don’t judge it properly and you have to see the car in person to understand this spectacular paint job! Xenatec Coupe has an imposing exterior design which is hardly beautiful, but it’s very exquisite. Besides the obvious two-door form, the car also has some other substantial differences over the standard Maybach. At front you get a new bumper, and a whole new rear design. The interior of this road-going yacht is a combination of buffalo hide in its natural, non-dyed mid-brown and dark nappa leather in espresso brown, all hand-stitched by master craftsmen. The Alcantara footwells are finished in a warm blackberry tone and so are the leather piping around the seats. A custom-built panorama roof and headliner finished in nappa leather add an air of absolute exclusivity to the luxury coupe.

2012 Ford Focus EPA MPG Rating Posted: 25 Feb 2011 06:30 AM PST EPA announced official fuel consumption figures for the new 2012 Ford Focus. Based on that the car manages 40 mpg highway and 28 mpg city when equipped with six-speed automatic transmission and SFE (Super Fuel Economy) package. The Focus is still behind the new Hyundai Elantra in terms of economy, as the Korean does 40 mpg highway/29 city and has a better combined figure. But then the Focus is sportier and, traditionally, better to drive. I would gladly trade a couple of MPGs for more driving fun! Toyota Verso-S UK Pricing and Specs Posted: 25 Feb 2011 06:19 AM PST The new Toyota Verso-S, which is the closest rival for Hyundai ix20 in the B-segment is now on sale in the UK starting at £13,995 for TR and £14,995 for T Spirit. Opting for Multidrive S adds £1,150 to the price. This cute little car is powered by a 98bhp 1.33-litre VVT-i petrol engine, mated to a six-speed manual gearbox and capable of a combined cycle fuel economy of 51.4mpg and CO2 emissions of 127g/km. These figures will improve using the Multidrive S CVT transmission to 54.3mpg and 120 g/km. The five-door Verso-S is less than four meters long but offers a 2,550mm wheelbase with a very clever interior. Check out Mansory Zapico, a magnificent carbon fiber custom bike they’ve built in collaboration with Thomas M. George. Mansory’s huge obsession with carbon fiber has resulted in a unique presence for the Zapico. It gets carbon front mask, bug spoiler, seat module, primary shield and silencer as well as the applications on the fuel tank, the frame, fork, wheel rims and airbox. Mansory interior department has also contributed with the leatherworks on this custom cruiser. The bike is powered by a powerful 124 cubic inch (around 2,080 cm³) V2 built by bespoke engine maker S&S and delivers 160 hp. Given the curb weight of 340 kg, the Zapico can accelerate to 60 mph form stand still in 3.3 seconds. This is a nice departure from the norm for Mansory. They’ve gone berserk and launched a version with 888 hp. Crazy! To be unveiled at the upcoming Geneva Motor show, Novitc’s GTO features a twin-compressor six-liter four-valve V12 engine with boost pressure of 0.45 bar, large water-to-air intercooler, custom manifolds, high-performance air filters and high-performance injectors, as well as NOVITEC ROSSO stainless-steel high-performance exhaust system. AC Schnitzer Goes Green! Posted: 25 Feb 2011 05:20 AM PST Even the most insane tuners have realized if they want to stay in business, they have to make greener cars. AC Schnitzer for instance has come up with a BMW Z4 that needs 3.8 liters of fuel per 100 km, and emits just 99 g/km Co2. AC Schnitzer 99d BMW Z4 is powered by a 2.0 liter four-cylinder diesel engine In its standard form it has 163 HP and 380 Nm, but with AC’s treatment it delivers 190 HP and 420 Nm of torque. That astonishing fuel economy is a result of an extensive weight reduction program AC Schnitzer has applied to shed off 230 Kg (507 lbs). So while it can do 0 to 60 mph in 6.9 seconds and reach a top speed of near as makes no difference 150 mph, it also manages 3.8 liter per 100km with 99.18 grams of CO2. It’s great, but at 149,000 Euro it does not make any sense at all! I mean the whole point of this car is reduce your costs, but you have to pay Ferrari money for it. New Opel Astra Convertible Confirmed For 2013 Posted: 25 Feb 2011 05:02 AM PST Opel/Vauxhall announced today a new Convertible model due in 2013. It is the new Astra Cabrio based on the same platform as the current Astra, the Astra SportsTourer and the upcoming Astra GTC. There has been quite a few speculations regarding the new Astra Convertible, but we won’t know for sure if it actually looks anything like the current Astra range. They still have not decided on vehicle naming, pricing and equipment, so we can’t say for sure. Plus, the Astra itself may change in this two years. The new Cabrio is part of the company's €11 billion investment pledge announced approximately one year ago as part of its plan for the future. It will be made at the highly-efficient Gliwice plant alongside other Astra models. "The new Convertible will be a great addition to our product lineup," said Opel/Vauxhall CEO Nick Reilly. "It follows the long-standing tradition of highly emotional and legendary Opel/Vauxhall Cabrios that provided important halo effects on our brand. Here’s new shots of the final production version of the car showing you the car’s rear-end. the hatchback version of the WTCC and BTCC champion Chevy Cruze is ought to gain a bigger market share for the small American car which is already enjoying a huge success in sales. Speedriven Mercedes SL600 CNG Posted: 25 Feb 2011 01:37 AM PST CNG is kinda like E85 in terms of emissions. It is a fossil fuel but it makes much less CO2 than petrol or diesel. Now some dude in America thought it’s a good idea to convert his Mercedes SL600 to run on natural gas! And based on the results, you have to say it is. This car prepared by Speedriven now produces around 800 bhp and 1345 Nm of torque. That’s a whole lot more than what the standard V12 biturbo engine of the Merc could manage. With a bit more tweaks and moving stuff around, they hope to break the world speed record for CNG powered cars. They think it can do 240 mph. The quarter mile time for this gas-powered monster is 10 seconds. They are aiming at the record currently held by Hohenester Audi S4 that has recorded 226 mph.
