Lamborghini Aventador LP 700-4 orders exceed expectations Posted: 23 Mar 2011 06:05 PM PDT The revolutionary Lamborghini Aventador LP 700-4, unveiled to the public at the Geneva Motor Show earlier this month, has achieved sales representing far more than one year’s production also due to strong motor show reception. That momentum, which began at VIP customer previews in late-2010, now continues at www.Aventador.com, where brand enthusiasts have the opportunity to configure the high-tech, lightweight Aventador’s exterior and interior color to their preference, while viewing the newest brand film teasing the €255,000 flagship. “Interest in the Aventador has been unprecedented and we have orders for far more than one year. Before customer deliveries begin in the second half of 2011, customers and brand enthusiasts can visit the Aventador microsite to receive a glimpse into the wealth of personalization opportunities available with the new V12 super sports car,” said Stephan Winkelmann, President and CEO of Automobili Lamborghini S.p.A. “Although we prefer to leave the complete customization process to a one-on-one experience with a Lamborghini retailer, the microsite is the perfect interactive tool for enthusiasts who want to test different options and styles for a truly personalized Lamborghini.” The microsite also features full technical specifications, standard equipment, options and a full directory of official Lamborghini dealerships around the globe. The Aventador LP 700-4 is the sixth generation Lamborghini V12 model. The stunning vehicle redefines the pinnacle of the luxury super sports car market, combining high power, outstanding lightweight engineering and phenomenal handling precision. Its innovative monocoque made entirely from carbon fiber results in a low dry weight of only 3,472 pounds (1.575 kilos) – a 199 pound (90 kilos) weight-savings versus its predecessor. Combined with this low weight, the Aventador’s new 700 horsepower V12 engine and Independent Shift Rod transmission provide breathtaking performance – 0-100 Km/h (0-62 mph) acceleration in just 2.9 seconds and a top speed of 350 Km/h (217 mph). A Formula 1-inspired pushrod suspension and all-wheel drive system provide precise handling and stability at the very highest speeds. Volkswagen motorsport drivers prepared for new season Posted: 23 Mar 2011 01:10 PM PDT Volkswagen’s Formula 3 and Scirocco R-Cup drivers have jointly prepared themselves for the 2011 motorsport season at an intensive fitness camp in Oberjoch, Bavaria. The camp, which lasted five days, comprised a variety of different training modules designed to maximize the drivers’ physical performance in the areas of stamina, strength and coordination – and to support the young sportsmen in their individual preparations. “Professional motorsport places very different and very high demands on the drivers, and that includes in relation to their physical fitness,” explained Volkswagen Motorsport Director Kris Nissen, who also participated in the fitness camp. “Their stamina, coordination and reactions have to be perfectly trained if they wish to compete with the crème de la crème on the racetrack. Our fitness camp was an important part of our preparations for the new season and gave those who participated some important stimuli for their independent training activities.” Volkswagen Motorsport prepared a challenging and diverse program of training modules for the team of 30 participants, which included not only numerous Formula 3 and Scirocco R-Cup drivers, but also seasoned touring car drivers such as Peter Terting and Fredrik Ekblom. The main component of the stamina training was a combination of technically and physically demanding cross-country skiing, an energy-sapping mountain jog and, finally, a biathlon. Other modules included snowshoe orienteering in small groups, which promoted not only physical fitness, but also coordination skills and teamwork, and a special fitness training session put together with the specifics of being in a racing car cockpit in mind. There was also a Pilates session, group spinning and a seminar on nutritional science to round off the program. “I came away from the fitness camp with new insights for my sports preparations. It also showed me that training can be tough but fun at the same time,” said Maiken Rasmussen of Denmark, who is a newcomer to the Scirocco R-Cup. “Meeting all the other drivers was another important aspect of the camp. There was a very positive atmosphere and a really sporting spirit among us – which was another reason why everyone trained so hard.” The camp was also fruitful for 27-year-old professional driver Peter Terting, who will be lining up for Volkswagen at the 24-hour race on the Nurburgring: “Working with professional trainers gave us all the opportunity to ask questions about our specific preparation regimes. For example, it was important to me that I optimize my nutrition before and during the 24-hour race,” he said. Related posts: |
Volkswagen determined to help people in Japan Posted: 23 Mar 2011 12:57 PM PDT Following the severe earthquake and the devastating tsunami in Japan, Volkswagen is to make significant donations to support the people of Japan. This was stated by Dr. Horst Neumann, Member of the Board of Management of Volkswagen Aktiengesellschaft for Human Resources, in Wolfsburg today. Group brands Volkswagen and Audi are each to donate a million euros for humanitarian aid via organizations such as the German Red Cross. Neumann underlined: “There is tremendous willingness within the Volkswagen Group to help the population of Japan, which has been affected so dramatically, especially in the North-East of the country. Every day, we receive emails from employees expressing great sympathy and a determination to assist people in Japan.”
Porsche AG will also be providing financial support for humanitarian aid to the people in Japan who have been affected. Today, Porsche announced that the company would be donating half a million euros to mitigate the consequences of the catastrophe for residents of the areas concerned. In addition, the President of the Volkswagen Group Works Council, Bernd Osterloh, announced: “This week, we will be calling on the workforce to contribute to a major donation campaign. Preparations are already well underway. The strong feeling of solidarity demonstrated by our colleagues is overwhelming. We are standing shoulder to shoulder with the people of Japan who have experienced such indescribable suffering.” Osterloh was convinced that the workforce of Volkswagen and Audi would participate with considerable commitment. He added that employees would receive further information on the campaign this week. Colleagues suggested that we should cooperate with the German Red Cross to provide support in Japan. The German Red Cross has close links with the Japanese Red Cross, which is organizing aid through a well-developed infrastructure. We took up this proposal and established contact with the local Red Cross in Wolfsburg and the German Red Cross headquarters in Berlin. It was agreed that donations from the Volkswagen workforce should support humanitarian aid in Japan and the work of the Red Cross,” Osterloh explained. According to the German Red Cross, the Japanese Red Cross has been taking care of desperate and highly insecure people in emergency accommodation established in schools, gymnasia and other public buildings since the earthquake and the tsunami. Apart from blankets, food and water, the survivors also receive psycho-social support as well as assistance in the search for their friends and families. In the devastated port city of Sendai alone, there are 200 emergency accommodation centers, where people affected benefit from accommodation, food, care and psycho-social support. The Japanese Red Cross also has a medical team on standby in Nagasaki to provide treatment for radiation victims. The German Red Cross reports that the Japanese Red Cross is one of the largest Red Cross organizations worldwide, with more than two million active volunteers, 488 emergency teams and 7,000 medical staff. Currently, 134 teams with 800 people have been deployed. They are regularly relieved by fresh teams. Related posts: |

FIA GT1: All-Inkl Lamborghini tops Abu Dhabi test Posted: 23 Mar 2011 09:09 AM PDT Marc Basseng and All-Inkl.com Lamborghini team-mate Marcus Winkelhock made the perfect start to the 2011 season by topping both morning and afternoon sessions in Wednesday’s pre-season test. The duo ended the morning fastest from Marc VDS Racing’s Maxime Martin and Frederic Makowiecki, before lowering their personal best by more than a second and a half in the heat of the afternoon to remain fastest and round out a dominant start to their preparations for this weekend’s opening round. All-Inkl.com’s other pairing, Dominik Schwager and Nicky Pastorelli, also improved in afternoon session and ended the day second fastest, completing a clean sweep for the Munnich Motorsport squad. With the afternoon session proving slightly faster than the morning, Stefan Mucke and Darren Turner ended the day third fastest for the Young Driver Aston Martin Racing squad. Behind them the Corvette squads of Exim Bank Team China and DKR Engineering showed strongly, at one point topping the timesheets before eventually finishing fourth and fifth respectively. The Corvette has previous form at Yas Marina, particularly in the hands of current No. 11 driver Mike Hezemans, who took a podium in the Championship Race in 2010. After running well in the morning session, Mark VDS Racing endured an unfortunate afternoon as mechanical issues afflicted both cars – restricting them to a combined total of just nine laps.
