Kicherer Mercedes SLS Gets Electric Wings

Kicherer Mercedes SLS Gets Electric Wings kicherer sls electric wing

Kicherer introduced a new option for their Mercedes SLS AMG SuperSport package called the “Electric Wings”. Do we really need to explain it?!

This idea will appeal to those SLS buyers who are a bit short or those who are incredibly lazy. As you know people below 6 feet will have a bit of a problem reaching for the door handles once they’re inside the car with seat belts on, since the doors open high up in the sky. Mercedes will sell you strap a that hangs off the door, but that’s not very elegant.

What you need is Kicherer’s solution which at the touch of a button on the dashboard or on the remote opens and closes those massive gull-wings.

Mercedes SLS’ doors are catastrophically show-offy as it is. Imagine having them electronically operated! What people will think of you? What message are you sending? Not Good!

Richard Hammond Selling His Morgan Aeromax

Richard Hammond Selling His Morgan Aeromax aeromax hamond

So maybe he didn’t like it that much after all! After owning his Moragn Aeromax for two years, Top Gear presenter Richard Hammond lists his beloved Malvern Hills-built British sportscar for sale.

He is asking £99,950 for it which sounds a bit steep for a car that was worth £110K when new, and was also involved in an accident! But then it benefits from the celebrity endorsement factor. The Aeromax is also a very rare car as they only made 100 units of it. The car’s powered by a 4.4-litre BMW engine with 325 bhp and top speed of 180 mph. But it looks a bit weird for those not familiar with Morgan, and that makes it a hard car to sell!

So if you like to own a car once belonged to a Top Gear legend, there’s your chance.

Amazingly, the Daily Mail finds something in this to attack Top Gear with! They’re nagging about TV license pay and how that made Top Gear and Hammond rich. It is really hard to see their point here because the show’s popularity means that they’ve actually came up with something worthwhile and valuable that license payers like. Top Gear is delivering what they’re being paid for, and then some. So yes, Hammond can afford a 100 grand car, so what?!

BMW M Bike Carbon Racer

BMW M Bike Carbon Racer BMW M Bike Carbon Racer 1

Recently Range Rover unveiled a concept carbon fiber bike with Evoque branding. If that doesn’t float your boat, don’t despair because there’s plenty more coming! Here’s BMW M bike for you.

Apparently making bikes helps car makers put on a greener face.

Now you might not notice it just by looking at it, but BMW M Bike Carbon Racer has a highly advanced design and build with highest level of riding comfort and lightweight. BMW puts its M badge only on the very fast stuff, but that’s not the case with this one. The speed of this thing really depends on how hard you can pedal, obviously! But it makes it an easier job with its high-tech materials and components that result in a great ride to maximize your efficiency.

To make sure it is distinguished over normal non M bikes, the Carbon Racer features anthracite carbon look, while colored accents on the rims, handlebar grips, and saddle inlay in the typical BMW M red color show off the origins of this top-quality bike.

BMW M Bike Carbon Racer is not a concept and you can actually buy it. It will be available from select BMW dealers and online at www.bmw-shop.com from June 2011. It could be quite expensive though, after all it comes with a M badge.

Carbon – the material the best racing machines are made from. For those watching the BMW M Bike Carbon Racer ride by from the sidewalk, it's love at first sight – and there usually isn't time for a second look with this racing machine. So it really pays to take a look at the frame, which is the heart of every bike. For the new BMW M Bike Carbon Racer, BMW's developers constructed a carbon frame that is extremely light and stiff, absorbs shocks, and is absolutely corrosion-free. BMW doesn't use any mass-produced elements in its fleet of bicycles, instead working only with frames it develops itself. And with Shimano Ultegra gears, you can quickly get the 7.4 kg racing bike moving at top speed.

Each component is state of the art.

Whether for athletic endeavors or recreational riding, every detail is perfect when you hit the pedals of the BMW M Bike Carbon Racer. This high-performance bike truly stands out as a result of carefully selected components and the perfect coordination of all the top-quality parts. Even in extreme conditions, the Shimano Ultegra brakes and gear levers allow the rider to change gears quickly, and the uncompromising lightweight design allows for particularly fluid braking. The chain and cassette provide a perfectly smooth transmission of energy both on flat areas of road and on difficult slopes.

The BMW M Bike Carbon Racer is unrivaled in its combination of technically sophisticated equipment with exclusive design – but it is what you would normally expect from a BMW M product. The summer of 2011 will be all about "sheer driving pleasure" for every BMW owner, even those with two-wheeled vehicles.

We can’t guarantee that it’ll make just as cool as Mr.McQueen, but it just feels good to own a car with so much history. It is the very 911 that appeared on the opening scene of  Le Mans movie  and cruises thru a quiet French countryside. That is simply enough o make the car a precious collectible item, but there’s more to it. McQueen buys that very Porsche after the filming is done and ships to California adding it to his collection of awesome supercars.

Now that’s a must have! If you got a few hundred thousand dollars to spare.

McLaren MP4-12C GT3 Racer Unveiled

McLaren MP4 12C GT3 Racer Unveiled mclaren mp4 12c gt3 1

McLaren revealed the first images of the MP4-12C GT3 race car as it prepares for its debut test at MIRA proving ground and Silverstone track. The car will be built by McLaren GT, a joint venture of McLaren experts and CRS Racing company.

McLaren GT has also appointed a new test driver to its team, 26-year-old Portuguese racing driver Alvaro Parente. Full driver line-up and planned competition for the 12C GT3 will be confirmed after these tests are completed.

McLaren MP4 12C GT3 Racer Unveiled mclaren mp4 12c gt3 2

The production road-going MP4-12C has faced some criticism regarding its looks in its short life. Some say it is not as flamboyant and crazy as a proper supercar should be. The GT3 racing version looks kinda worse than that with its modified front and rear aprons and all the extra racing bits it has to carry….

Apart from the looks though, this is an uncanny racing machine. It uses technical know-how from McLaren Formula 1 team. Of course it’s limited by the regulations. The car’s 3.8-litre twin turbo V8 had to be restrained to comply with GT3 regulations. Same rules also dictate that it has to sport a new front splitter, door blade, rear wing, diffuser and louvres in the front fenders. The 12C GT3 is based on the McLaren carbon MonoCell chassis, which weighs just 75kg and is produced in a revolutionary one-piece mould. Race specification composite body panels and a fixed rear wing have been added to the GT3 car.

A bespoke paddle-shift system operating an all-new Ricardo-designed gearbox developed specifically for racing will be fitted. This system eschews the 7-speed SSG dual-clutch Graziano transmission supplied in the standard 12C. New electrical architecture is being supplied by McLaren Electronic Systems Limited, including electronic dash and data technologies.  Bosch Motorsport will supply a new ABS system for the 12C GT3.

McLaren MP4-12C GT3 is also available fro privateers to order.

"The 12C's carbon chassis and aerodynamic efficiency mean we started with a lightweight, dynamically-optimised sports car. Those characteristics are fundamental to any race car. The car is around 100mm wider than the standard production car and features a new suspension system which we have tested in the McLaren Simulator. Having now experienced this new set-up in the 12C GT3 car, I'm delighted with the progress we are making.

McLaren Automotive Chief Test Driver Chris Goodwin said: "Those who have seen the new MP4-12C production car won't be surprised to learn that immense attention to detail has been applied in developing the GT3 version. Quality is a watchword.  We know that our potential customers will expect McLaren GT to deliver a competitive car right out of the box and, starting now with a programme covering aerodynamics development and durability testing, we are determined to do just that.
"The McLaren GT team is committed to achieving unprecedented levels of performance, also guaranteeing the levels of quality, reliability and durability with which we expect to delight future race teams entering competitions with the 12C GT3."

This new Citroen commercial for the C3 does not feature the car itself, but it’s quite successful in delivering the message! It boasts most of the features you get with the car without actually showing them to you, and that’s the whole point. You have to watch it to understand, no words necessary!

Video: Aston Martin Vantage S Driving Footage

Posted: 11 Mar 2011 12:02 AM PST

Check out this awesome footage of the new Aston Martin V8 Vantage S going around the Ascari Resort track in a nice and smooth manner in a beautiful morning. Honestly, life doesn’t get much better than this! Sunshine, V8 singing, gorgeous supercar and the Ascari circuit which features some of the world’s most famous corners copied from different race tracks. The hardest decision is which one to choose, coupe or convertible? The latter is more fun, but the coupe is better to drive. Damn, it’s a hard knock life! [props to Motorauthority.com]
