Posted: 14 Mar 2011 12:06 PM PDT At the Commercial Vehicle Show at the NEC in Birmingham, UK Hyundai will exhibit for the first time and introduces two versions of the iLoad Panel and Crew van. There will also be a Police converted version of the iLoad on display. Hyundai believes their partner ship with UK Police is a demonstration of the versatility of the iLoad van. As for the commercial model, it is now available with a Euro 5 engine resulting in 10.4% reduction in CO2 and an 8.4% improvement in fuel economy. Pricing for the Hyundai iLoad strts at £13,840 with the 2.5CRDi Classic Panel van. To make the offer more interesting, Hyundai is introducing the 'Trade and Upgrade' scheme on iLoad. Similar to the Government Scrappage Scheme, 'Trade and Upgrade' allows owners of seven to 10 year old cars in Britain to get an allowance of between £1,500–£3,000 towards a brand new Hyundai car. For iLoad, consumers would save £2,300 on the list price when trading in their old van.

Posted: 14 Mar 2011 11:52 AM PDT Peugeot Motorsport’s new Le Man challenger will compete in its first official race next weekend in the 12 Hours of Sebring, the season opener for 2011 Intercontinental Le Mans Cup champions. That race will also see the Audi R15 bidding farewell in its final race before hands it over to the new R18 closed cockpit. The 908 too features a closed cockpit because that’s what the new rules dictates. The car features a 3.7-litre, HDi turbo-charged diesel engine that makes the series standard 550-hp but its equipped with a particulate filter. That’s what you would also find in a Peugeot 207 city car! We’re kinda worried that all the health and safety and emission standards would eventually kill motoracing as we know it. After making its first track appearance on 27 July 2010, and then being presented to the media and general public on 3 February of this year, the new Peugeot 908 will be taking part in its very first race in Sebring (USA) on the 19th March. Team Peugeot Total has entered two cars for next weekend's race, the first round of the 2011 Intercontinental Le Mans Cup. The first car, racing as No. 7 will be driven by the 2010 driver team champions, Alexander Wurz, Marc Gené and Anthony Davidson. The second car will carry the No. 8 and will be driven by Franck Montagny, Stéphane Sarrazin and Pedro Lamy.
SCHEDULE FOR THE 12 HOURS OF SEBRING 2011 Thursday 17 March 2011 (UK time in brackets) Friday 18 March 2011 10.40am – 11.40am: Free Practice (3.40pm – 2.40pm) Saturday 19 March 2011 8.00am – 8.25am: Warm Up (11.00am – 11.25am)
Is This The New Mercedes A Class? Posted: 14 Mar 2011 11:43 AM PDT This picture of a small premium Mercedes, which appears to be taken from a video, is allegedly the official sketch of the next generation A Class. We have seen other Mercedes models sketches which looked very close to the finished product, and we have to say this one looks legitimate. Of course the real thing won’t look just as dramatic as this, but it gives a clue on what the new A Class would look like. In that case we have to say kudos to Mercedes because they finally got it right! none of the previous A Class – or B Class – models were good and that really got us thinking if Mercedes can make small cars at all. The new one though seems to be up there in terms of design. What’s more, they will make a powerful AMG hot-hatch version of this car as well. It’ll get a four-cylinder turbo engine that makes more than 300 hp and offers great fuel efficiency. That Gives Ford Focus Rs plenty of reasons to be worried. via: Autoblog.it
Ferrari FF Online Configurator Launched Posted: 14 Mar 2011 11:30 AM PDT You have to say Ferrari IT department is doing a great job keeping up the pace with the engineers who make those brilliant cars! They set up the car’s online unveiling and have now come up with a brilliant online customizer that allows customers tailor their FF to their desired specs. It includes a wide range of features and lets you personalize literally everything from brake calipers color to the color of seat belts even! You can also specify visual and functional options here and see the results in a 3D model that you can move around and view from different angles. We are also staggered by the options they are offering for this car. I think it’s a first time that a Ferrari offers front and rear parking cameras. It’s all good, but kinda pointless I’m afraid. That’s because he car is sold out until next year, so your perfect FF has to go down the waiting list. Maybe you change your mind until then! Anyhow, if you want to give it a go, here’s the link: Ferrari FF Online Configurator
Chrysler Reveals New ‘Imported from Detroit’ logo Posted: 14 Mar 2011 09:49 AM PDT The ‘Imported from Detroit’ campaign began very cool with Chrysler’s Super Bowl ad featuring Detroit’s most famous artist Eminem. All that fuss was for Chrysler’s branded merchandise! Now they unveiled an expanded range of goodies and a new aggressive logo. Of course Chrysler don’t want it all to themselves. They will donate a portion of proceeds from selling the branded stuff to Detroit’s various charities including Boys & Girls Clubs of Southeastern Michigan, Habitat for Humanity Detroit, the Marshall Mathers Foundation and Think Detroit PAL. The awesome new logo features the downtown monument to famous boxer Joe Louis in the middle of the Chrysler wings. Who ever came up with this logo was a genius because it’s just so cool. Even for those who don’t have a clue what’s it all about, that logo alone is a selling point.

Posted: 14 Mar 2011 09:27 AM PDT The guys at the Coventry-based specialist coachbuilder CPP Global Holdings must be plotting something big because just a few weeks after acquiring Spyker car business from the Dutch company, they’ve announced purchase of the British Bowler. Now if you watch Top Gear Bowler is a familiar name to you. They used to make tough and rugged off-road racing cars based on Land Rovers. They had their own racing series as well. More recently they got into the business of making road-going versions of their race cars which resulted into the Bowler Nemesis EXR based on Range Rover Sport. This high-end coupe RR is capable of what the racing Bowlers are capable of, but it’s also very luxurious and goodlooking as well. Now that CPP own both Spyker and Bowler, one would imagine they are going to make a sort of off-road supercar that can do 200 miles an hour on gravel! Press Release:

Lancia Thema Interior Revealed Posted: 14 Mar 2011 09:06 AM PDT Everybody knows that the Lancia Thema is just a rebadged Chrysler 300. So it’s not like we didn’t know how the interior of this would look like. Still, those slight Lancia touches have given it an air of luxury and exclusivity. And we don’t mind really this being a Chrysler, because it’s a good one! We’ve always maintained that the 300 is an overall rubbish sedan beaten by its European, and even Korean, rivals but it’s freezingly cool and for that reason alone we’d rather have the Chrysler over all the others. The same applies for the interior. It is an American design and for some weird reason Americans can’t do interiors properly! They’ve got better recently, but still they’re far behind European models. Lancia has done some nice styling details all over the cabin such as two-tone leather, elegant wooden trims, contrasting stitching and beautiful dials and those changes have really improved it. Considering all the suddle enhancments Lancia has implemented on the Chrysler 300 we have to say if you want a cool and awesome sedan that is also stylish and luxurious, forget the 300 and buy the Thema!

Kia Rio Hot Hatch In The Works Posted: 14 Mar 2011 08:11 AM PDT Kia reportedly is considering a high-performance version of the new Rio, introduced recently at the Geneva Motor Show, to enter the world of hot hatchbacks with. Such car could also improve the brand’s image. If Kia was to make a hotted-up version of the last Rio we would have been rolling about laughing by now because it didn’t look like it could be taken seriously. But this new Rio is something different and actually has a lot of potential. In fact all new successive Kia models are better and more interesting than their predecessors. They also keep their winning card which is incredible value for money. So the Rio Hot Hatch would have no problem in terms of style as the 2012 car is up to the job. Specially as it comes in both three and five-door formats. But what about performance? It will have to rival cars like Golf GTI and Focus ST. Kia Rio might have a bit of an issue in terms of powetrains since all of the engines offered for the 2012 model are perfectly engineered for fuel efficiency and low CO2 emissions but they’re all low on power as well! So Kia might develop a new engine or use a bigger one from Forte range for instance, and then make up for efficiency with things like start/stop system.
INDEN Mercedes S500 Conversion To S65 AMG Posted: 14 Mar 2011 07:54 AM PDT If you can afford a Mercedes S500, chances are you can also afford – if you squeeze yourself a little harder – an S65 AMG. Now, what if you like the S65 looks but don’t need all that power in your life? Inden Design might have a solution for you. This Mercedes S65 AMG you see here is actually a S500 converted to look like its high performance sister. It is actually better because it features a magnificent color, new rims and lowered suspension, which make it even better looking. The rear and front bumpers, exhaust tips, diffuser, LED lights and the side skirts come directly from the S65. Inden then wraps the whole car in charcoal-gray matte film which look fantastic but as you know this kinda treatments require taking care of. You have to keep it clean all the time, or don’t take it to carwash very often, or don’t park it in the sun for too long… It’s a bit inconvenient! Inden also provides some performance upgrades, probably to save you from being embarrassed if someone tried to race you! Their revisions to the Merc’s V8 results in 420 bhp which is not much, but it’s better than the 380 of the standard. Due to the increased power, the braking system was "converted" to the S600 V12 BiTurbo model with 6-piston front calipers and 4-piston brake calipers. Also part of the conversion package are the 50mm lower suspension and 20-inch wheels wrapped in tires in size 265/30-20 at the front and 275/30-20 at the rear. For the interior you get A, B and C pillars, the headliner at the dashboard and door panel are trimmed with two-color leather in combination with black Alcantara. All the wood trims are replaced with carbon fiber parts and there’s also a 360 km/h speedometer to make you feel good!

Video: Lamborghini Aventador On Public Street Posted: 14 Mar 2011 07:30 AM PDT The new Lamborghini Aventador is now on its way to the dealers, and apparently it’s going to bring each city it sets foot in to a complete halt! As you see in this video from the car’s arrival in a Lamborghini showroom in Berlin all the passerbys have to to stop and take a look at this beast, which by the way looks much more menacing out in the wild than it did at the Geneva Motor Show. Since the car is sold out until 2012, the first examples will be priced way more than the MSRP at the dealerships. But Lamborghini buyers don’t care about that, do they! The only trouble is, Lamborghini is said to be making just 4000 units of the Aventador.
Madza MX-5 ’55 Le Mans Edition Posted: 14 Mar 2011 06:59 AM PDT Britain used to get all the special edition Mazda MX-5 because of the car’s wild popularity in that roadster-loving country. This one though, called the ’55 Le Mans limited edition, is for Switzerland. This Swiss-bound MX-5 boasts Mazda’s years of motorsport heritage, their 1991 Le Mans victory in particular. That 55 in the car’s name is the actual racing number of the Le Mans winner Mazda 787. Mazda is far less active in racing nowadays, but they were the first Japanese brand to bring home a Le Mans title. he MX-5 '55 Le Mans Edition features a number of upgrades to be distinguished both visually and mechanically over the standard models. It gets 160-hp 2.0 liter engine that in combination with a six-speed manual gearbox makes the MX-5 even more of a wonderful driver’s car. Add to that a limited slip differential and sport suspension with Bilstein components and you realize you can’t have more fun for less money. Visually, the car comes in four unique colors as shown in the pictures, all featuring a bespoke commemorative stripe on the sides, sport rims, special logos and a numbered plaque. Switzerland is not the most car friendly country in the world, but they seem to be getting the best version of the MX-5 ever!

Caterham Optimistic About More European Sales Posted: 14 Mar 2011 06:27 AM PDT 2010 was a record year for the British bespoke sportscar maker Caterham in terms of exports. Turns out it’s not just the Brits who get the appeal of a raw bona fide sportscar! Caterham had quite a successful year – representing the fifth consecutive year of continual growth – and is looking forward to 2011 to continue their ongoing growth. The fact that their Ford Sigma and Duratec engines which power the whole range are now Euro5 approved helps them to market the cars in the whole Europe. With the popularity of Caterham Seven now at peak, the firm relies on the range of Roadsport, Superlight R300, SV and CSR to expand business in the green continent. Sales in France particularly contributed to the Company's performance overseas last year, with sales topping 130. There was further strong interest from other countries, including Germany, Italy and Japan. Caterham's expanding motorsport programme has also helped the Company's European success. The French R300 Cup started in 2010 and featured grids of 40 cars racing throughout the season. Meanwhile, Caterham's acclaimed Academy series, for novice racers, is being rolled out in France this year.

Anderson Germany Audi R8 Hyper Black Posted: 14 Mar 2011 06:10 AM PDT The Dusseldorf-based tuner Anderson Germany has yet another kit for the Audi R8. This one called the Hyper Black appears to be inspired by Darth Vader as it’s has an all-black exterior and a very dark soul! Based on the R8 V10 model, Anderson has revised the engine’s electronics and installed an active new exhaust system, which is 22 kg lighter than the stock system, and high performance air filters. As a result the power has gone up from standard 525 hp to 589 hp. To complement the power, they’ve fitted the car with a body kit consisting of new front spoiler lip and rear diffuser as well as a speed-dependent rear wing. The body is painted in a special mirror black and so are the carbon-coated 19-inch wheels. The windows are also tinted. A nice touch on the exterior is the orange brake calipers which really go well with the black theme. The interior uses more orange Alcantara bits in addition to black leather to create a unique and sporty atmosphere. They’ve also used carbon fiber extensively to style the cabin. You’ll find it on handbrake handle, the radio visor, the ashtray, the handles of the seat adjustment, door panels, and the side panels of the center console and shifter surround and of course the sport steering wheel. The Hyper Black is one of the coolest tuned R8s we’ve ever seen.
