| World’s Largest Rolls Royce Showroom In Abu Dhabi Posted: 28 Mar 2011 10:48 AM PDT
Rolls Royce has 82 dealerships around the world, 8 of which are located in the Middle East – GCC countries to be more precise. If that’s not enough to convince you that ME is the most important market for RR, check this out: They just opened the world’s largest Rolls Royce Showroom In Abu Dhabi. Unveiled by Torsten Müller-Ötvös, CEO, Rolls-Royce Motor Cars, this amazing facility is located in Umm Al Nar area of Abu Dhabi where some other high-end dealerships such as Princess Cars have a showroom as well. In the 900 square meter showroom they can display five Rolls-Royce motor cars which should be enough given their current range. The compound also has a coffee bar and a customer configuration lounge including colour and trim samples. Not to mention it also has a dedicated Rolls Royce service facility. To mark the occasion Rolls Royce unveiled a Spirit of Ecstasy Centenary Collection Phantom Drophead Coupé. They will only make 100 units of this special edition which celebrates the Centenary of the Spirit of Ecstasy. A large part of the Spirit of Ecstasy Centenary Collection is already pre-ordered by Middle Eastern buyers. When your money comes out of a hole in the ground, you automatically develop a crave for exclusive things!

| Wald 2011 BMW 5 Sereis Preview Posted: 28 Mar 2011 09:54 AM PDT
Although it seems that all Black Bison kits by Japanese tuner Wald International look more or less the same, but it seems it’s kinda matured. Check out this new BMW 5 Series they’ve done, it looks fantastic. The ingredients are the same, revised bumpers, side skirts, new exhaust tips, and a bootlid wing, all with a kind of look that is apparently a mixture of neat European design and Japanese traditional shapes. We’re really digging the back-end of this car, it’s so together and nice and chiseled. Wald really is a master of body kits! Unfortunately though, they never upgrade engines or interiors, for that you should look elsewhere. Maybe that’s why they are so great with body kits, as they are totally focused on one job. Look out for the finished product at one of the upcoming major motorshows.

Lorinser is apparently developing a new kit for the Mercedes SLS by the name of RSK8. Not sure what exactly the high-end tuner has in mind, but it includes some gold-painted wheels! As you see in these pictures Lorinser has released, they’ve fitted the car with three-part forged wheels, of size 9×20-inch at front and 11×21-inch at the back. The accompanied tires for these wheels are 275/30 ZR 20 front and 295/25 ZR 21 back. Lorinser has its own in-house facilities to make high-tech wheels, and promises this lightweight set will enhance baking and handling. Great, but why gold?! They might be in tune with a yet-to-revealed package, which means even more golden parts and a golden paint job. We certainly hope not! You can get these magnificent 7-spoke wheels in other finishes as well. We like them in matte black.

| Toyota FT-86 II Concept Studio Photoshoot Posted: 28 Mar 2011 06:44 AM PDT
Toyota FT-86 II Concept, which is the second iteration of a concept with the same name, is not yet ready for production. But it’s not all that useless either! It is in fact engaging in some social media activities, creating hype for the actual production version. This new set of official images released by the company are the clearest pictures of the car they’ve provided so far since its debut at the Geneva Motor Show. The FT is a joint project between Toyota and Subaru to create a rear-wheel-drive full-blooded sportscar. The finished product might be a more tamed and restrained than what you see here, and it very well might be hybrid as well, but one way or another, this is Toyota’s comeback to the sportscar world. This could be the new Celica. So until we get hold of some proper news about the real Toyota sportscar, pass the time looking at these stunning photos!

| 250,000th Land Rover Freelander 2 Rolls Off The Line Posted: 28 Mar 2011 05:56 AM PDT
In spite of being a genuinely good car, Land Rover Freelander has always been kinda obscured by its Range Rover brothers. The car has just achieved a significant production milestone as the 250,000th unit rolls off the production line at Halewood manufacturing plant in Merseyside. Land Rover Freelander 2 was born back in 2007 and all these years it remained more or less unchanged in terms of design, but it’s been constantly upgraded in terms of technicalities. The 2011 Freelander 2 is available with either 2WD or 4WD and a refined 2.2 litre diesel engine offering two power outputs – the 190hp SD4 and the 150hp TD4. With class-leading on and off-road performance, featuring Terrain ResponseTM, a premium cabin, and improved fuel economy. Despite all these, and the fact that it is indeed a Land Rover, prices start at just £21,995. No other SUV in this price range offers the same capabilities, and the same class.

| Volvo C30 Electric Goes Cold Weather Testing Posted: 28 Mar 2011 05:41 AM PDT
When developing a new car, car makers usually use available data from previous models so it saves them a large amount of time and money. But now that each model is getting an electric variant, those data are kinda obsolete and they have to redo all tests! That is the case with the new Volvo C30 Electric. They recently finished its winter cold weather testings to see if the batteries and other new electric bits and pieces that an EV featires are compatible with extreme weather conditions. They’ve done more than 200 different tests and developed new methods exclusively for electric vehicles. The goal was for the car to perform smoothly in temperatures as low as -20° Celsius. They’ve also invented a new clever heating system for the C30 Electric. Climate control in the passenger compartment takes place via a bio-ethanol powered heater fitted in all cars. The car’s ethanol tank can carry 14.5 litres of bio-ethanol. This system can also use electricity from the batteries to work. This feature will become very handy in C30 dome country, Sweden. The car actually features different heating systems: One supplies the passengers with heating or cooling, One cools or warms the battery pack as necessary. The electric motor and power electronics are water-cooled.
