Lamborghini Aventador First Picture Posted: 22 Feb 2011 12:09 PM PST Alright so it’s not the clearest shot of the new Lamborghini Aventador, but it is the first leaked picture of the heavily-embargoed supercar. It’s been taken from the front cover of Croatian EVO magazine and made its way to the web and it’s spreading fast now! It doesn’t show much of the car, but it confirms the styling is inspired, heavily, by the Reventon. Maybe this picture convince Lamborghini to reveal the car sooner than scheduled and let go of all those teasers they’ve made. via: WCF
Posted: 22 Feb 2011 09:22 AM PST If you are finding it hard to hold on until the 50g/km Volvo V6 Hybrid to arrive, you can now buy the DRIVe version of the car. The good thing id that you can also have it as the S60 sedan if you don’t feel the need for an estate. The S60 and V60 DRIVe models are powered 1.6 litre turbo diesel engines and produce 114 g/km and 119 g/km respectively and average 65.7 mpg for the S60 and 62.8 mpg for the V60 on the EU combined cycle. With the R-Design specification, the S60 and V60 are available from £22,495 and £23,670 on the road, respectively, with a wide range of diesels and petrol engines, including the newly launched T3 with start/stop, T4 with start/stop and the T5. The S60 DRIVe ES will start at £23,49. Leasing rates for both the S60 DRIVe and V60 DRIVe start at £279 a month. The 120 g/km CO2 emission means that these cars also have tax benefits. Production of the S60 DRIVe and V60 DRIVe will begin at the end of February with customer vehicles expecting to be delivered in April 2011. Volvo’s DRIVe badge is fitted to those models that offer the best environmental performance in their respective size segments. Volvo’s belief is that economy should come without any detriment to the driving and usability of the vehicle, therefore the interior and versatility of each DRIVe vehicle does not differ from its’ other variants. Those models already offering DRIVe versions include the London Congestion Charge beating C30, S40 and V50, along with the XC60 and XC70, while in spring 2011 the Volvo V70 DRIVe (119 g/km) and Volvo S80 DRIVe (119 g/km) will become available with the further-enhanced Euro V diesel engine.
Citroen Announced 2011 Geneva Lineup Posted: 22 Feb 2011 08:32 AM PST Yesterday we told you about Peugeot’s features at the Geneva Motor Show. If you found their lineup a bit boring, then go right past their booth to the Citroen’s stand! You will see more exciting vehicles there. The highlight of the show for Citroen is of course the new DS4 which will come in its final production trim. This car which expands the DS line has a sleek coupe design but it’s a hatchback and also has a slightly higher ride height than normal hatches. So it’s kinda a new thing! It will be joined by the DS4 Purple concept car. Citroen will also show the C3 Red Block and C6 'Noir et Blanc' special editions in Geneva, along with their new DS3 WRC rally car, and a couple of environmentally friendly concept such as the C-Zero. More details in the press release below:

Jeep Grand Cherokee Diesel For Europe Posted: 22 Feb 2011 08:15 AM PST Jeep is now offering the mighty 2011 Grand Cherokee with a 3.0 liter MultiJet II Turbodiesel they’ve borrowed from Fiat. This model is destined for Europe and what better place to debut for it other than Geneva Motor Show at the heart of the continent. This diesel unit delivers 177 kW (241 hp) at 4,000 rpm and torque of 550 N•m (406 lb-ft) at 1,800-2,800 rpm in the Jeep. so it’s not quite the same feeling as having a big V8 under the bonnet, but it has its advantages in terms of economy as it does 8.3 L/100km on the combined cycle, an improvement of 17 percent over the prior diesel engine with CO2 emissions (combined cycle) also reduced by 17 percent, now at 218 g/km. It is a brilliant engine, but 240 hp might not be satisfying in a car the size of the Cherokee and it may also let you down a bit in heavy off-roading. Of course if you buy the SUV just for the way it looks and barely live the city, the the diesel is the better option as it’s lighter on fuel. In Europe the 2011 Jeep Grand Chrokee comes in Laredo and Limited trim lines in addition to the Overland version. The Laredo and Limited trim lines will be available with the 3.6-liter V-6 Pentastar engine and new 3.0-liter turbo diesel, while Overland will be available for the total engine lineup. More details on the V6 turbodiesel engine:

Posted: 22 Feb 2011 07:19 AM PST Subaru has launched a website to promote their new "BOXER Sports Car Architecture". They will showcase the technology at the 2011 Geneva Motor Show but it’s not likely they also bring along an actual concept sports car. This technology is actually referred to as "Subaru Rear-Wheel Drive Sports Car Technology Concept", so when the car finally arrives it’ll be a RWD and will have a boxer engine mounted at front. That much we can establish for now! We will probably first see this platform in the Subaru version of the FT-86 sports coupe they’re jointly developing with Toyota, when they eventually put it into mass production. They could also use it in other models, namely the next Impreza. A sporty rear-drive Impreza sounds like fun. More details about Subaru’s Boxer Sportscar and future models will be revealed at the Geneva Motor Show.
Growler E: The new Jaguar E-Type! Posted: 22 Feb 2011 07:02 AM PST If you been wondering how a modern-day Jaguar E-Type would look like, here it is. Well, sort of! You see this isn’t a real project, but just some rendering done by Vizualtech paying homage to the E in its 50th birthday. But everything about it is superb. From the name, Growler, to the way they’ve combined E-Type magnificent lines with modern design features. It looks amazing and we can’t see why Jaguar doesn’t revive the E-Type as a sport/luxury coupe. There’s certainly a big market for it out there. Too bad Vizualtech’s E will only live in computers! They’ve also dreamed up spot on technical features for it. Based on the chassis of the XK, the Growler gets the same 5.0 liter supercharged V8 as the XKR. The power? Well since it’s a fantasy car you can have as much as you want! I’d go for a million. But a production version could use 600 or so. Will we last long enough to see a new E-Type Jaguar? We could only hope!

Transformers 3 Daytona 500 Trailer Posted: 22 Feb 2011 06:43 AM PST The reason they are airing a trailer for Transformers 3 during the Daytona 500 is the fact that there’s a NASCAR transformer in the film and of course it’s featured in the teaser. It was very cool watching cars move about and turn into bada$$ robots for the first time, and the second installment was fine too. But we’re not sure if we can get excited with the same thing over and over! Specially as the Transformers 3 Dark Side of the Moon does not feature Megan Fox. Bummer!
This Is The Lamborghini Aventador… Rolling Chassis! Posted: 22 Feb 2011 06:34 AM PST Yes we’re kinda bored with Lamborghini Aventador’s teasers too. Here’s a new one showing the car’s rolling chassis along with the V12 engine and the pushrod suspension bolted on. Not sure what’s the point of it all, to be honest even 90 percent of the Aventador’s buyers don’t care about its chassis and stuff. What matters is the way it looks and the way it goes. Who’s fascinated by some scaffolding and nuts and bolts?! That’s it for this time. With the Geneva Motor Show being just around the corner the teasing torture shouldn’t last long! |
