Video: Need For Speed Shift 2 Unleashed Realism Posted: 24 Feb 2011 09:47 AM PST A few days ago EA Sports teased us with the Pagani Huayra featured in the latest version of Need For Speed called Shift 2 Unleashed. Now they are telling us that it also drives like the real thing thanks to the sophisticated simulation system they’ve used. They’ve used professional race car drivers and even drifters to develop this engine. As it’s the case with most of simulator games, they lack any form of fun unless you are a highly skilled and have a highly expensive steering wheel joystick thingy! We hope the Shift 2 also comes with an arcade mode or something for casual players like us!

Posted: 24 Feb 2011 09:14 AM PST This year at Geneva Motor Show Bentley has no new model to present. No worries though, they have a new line of accessories including iPad, iPhone and Blackberry cases to cheer you up! Crafted by Ettinger, Bentley’s luxury leather partner, these accessories are inspired by the Beluga and Hotspur interior trim colours of the Bentley Continental Supersports. The black and red leather with contrast stitching collection includes keyrings and iPad, iPhone and Blackberry cases. Ettinger has recently added some of the latest Bentley upholstery hides (fuchsia, yellow and blue) to its range. Everything is handmade in its factory in Birmingham, which uses the same skills that have been handed down for generations. They have not mentioned the pricing for this items yet, but they’re probably more expensive than the product they are ought to carry inside! Ettinger history: 1930s: Gerry Ettinger founded Ettinger in 1934. Having worked as a film producer in Italy and Germany (where he worked with Marlene Dietrich) he used his extensive contacts in continental Europe and England to create a range of luxury gifts 1940s: Recovery After a pause in the 1940s during the second world war, he returned to London to reinvigorate and expand his business. 1950s-60s: Growth In the 1950s Gerry Ettinger acquired a small leather goods manufacturing business, which had been making leather goods in London since the 19th century. 1970s-80s: Consolidation Gerry Ettinger continued to work in the business until well into his 80s and saw the transformation of the company into one of the most respected leather goods designers and manufacturers in the UK. 1990s: Recognition In 1990, Robert, his elder son took over and continued the tradition of craftsmanship and quality as well as bringing in some more contemporary designs. He has since further ‘internationalised’ and developed the business in Asia, Korea, South Africa, Hong Kong, Australia, Japan and the US. 1999: James Homer Ltd In July 1999, Ettinger acquired one of Walsall’s oldest leather goods manufacturing companies, James Homer Ltd (established in 1890). Homer is at the heart of Ettinger’s hand-made manufacturing process and is home to some of the most skilled leather craftsmen in the UK. 2005: Bentley Collection The collaboration with Bentley puts a whole new collection on the road. 2007: Showroom Makeover The London showroom, in Ettinger’s Putney Head Office, sets a new standard for the brand.
Lamborghini Aventador LP700-4 First Clear Shot Posted: 24 Feb 2011 08:54 AM PST After endless teasers, now we have to go through a series of leaked images, each revealing one side of the car. For God’s sake Lambo, just drop it like it’s hot! The new image shows the car form the side and I know, it looks sensational! I’d say it’s even cooler than the Reventon on which it is based. Check out that air vent finished in contrasting color and those slashes on the sills. Fantastic. It also seems the car retains its fold-away air intakes. Were still not sure about the doors. They are bigger which means you can get in and out of the car more easily, and the bigger windows also provides better visibility, but they look too like Gallardo’s doors. You know what, we’re nitpicking here! The fact is that Lamborghini Aventador LP700-4 is possibly the best car we will see this year. Can’t wait for Geneva Motor Show to finally see the car in its full glory. via: Jalopnik
Morgan 3 Wheeler Revealed In Full Posted: 24 Feb 2011 08:32 AM PST Morgan had revealed the modern-day Threewheeler back in November with a couple of renderings. Now they have released the first real live images and more details of the car. The new Morgan 3 Wheeler has remained extremely loyal to the original car and for that reason it looks really really weird! And it’s not just the body. The engine for example is located right on the front-end of the car. How cool is that! This engine is a V2 (V twin) specifically built for this car by S&S. It delivers 115 hp through a 5-speed Mazda gearbox. The car has the same driving thrill of the 1930s model. It is very fun indeed, but just imagine what kind of message you are sending out driving this thing around! It is the kinda car you drive for yourself because you like it, and the hell with everyone else. Morgan 3 Wheeler is priced at £25,000 which is a lot. I mean you can buy a car with that money! More details on the new 3 wheeler in the press release below…

Juliani Veela – New Italian Supercar Posted: 24 Feb 2011 08:11 AM PST This is the new kid on the block trying to get a share of the bespoke supercars. It’s got three most important features every supercar needs: weird design, lots of power and Italian roots. It also has a great name, Juliani Veela. Sounds like a Mafia boss! It is a production of Juliani Automobili and is powered by Corvette’s 6.2 liter V8 developing 520 hp. In terms of design, while at front it looks kinda dumb frankly, the side and rear views are fantastic. Specially from the side it reminds us of old TVR Cerbera. It has a carbon composite body measuring at 4,55 m in length, 1,92 m in width and 1,24 m in height, with a wheelbase of 2.63 m. It weighs slightly less than 1.2 ton and that makes it both very fast and very good to drive. The Veela has projected performance figures of 0 to 100 Km/h in 3.4 seconds and top speed in excess of 310 km/h. The car also features rear-wheel-drive, a six-speed manual transmission, sophisticated suspension with adjustable dampers and stuff! So it pushes the right supercar buttons, but it is very hard for a new boy to join the exclusive club. On the paper it seems like the Juliani Veela has all the right ingredients, but we have to wait for the real thing to arrive and then judge it. As for me, I already want this car because of its awesome name!

Posted: 24 Feb 2011 07:49 AM PST One of the most powerful tuning packages for the Opel Astra hatchback comes from EDS Fahrzeugtechnik. Based on the Astra J Turbo, the car produces 360 bhp instead of the standard 180! 360 hp and a maximum torque of 480 Nm is a huge power for such a little car. It is also generally known as a recipe for chaos! To make sure it remains in check if not all, but most of the times they’ve equipped it with perforated brake discs in dimension of 356 x 32 mm with 8-piston calipers, and Schmidt Revolution 20-inch rims with Pirelli P.Zero 235/35ZR20 the front and 275/30ZR20 on the rear axle. These rims also look quite awesome. But those are mere details really because that engine sits in the middle like a giant anchovy on a mini pizza! The modifications are so deep and include Pressure reducing high-performance needle valve – 980 Euro, high-quality steel connecting rod – 550 Euro, HG Motorsport turbo manifold – 1200 Euro, EDS high-performance charge air cooler – 600 Euro, Garret GT28 turbocharger – 1000 Euro, 100 mm air-flow meter – 300 Euro, 550 cm3 injectors – 500 Euro, 70 mm down pipe with HJS 200CPSI Sport catalyst – 800 Euro, Friedrich Motorsport 70 mm stainless steel exhaust system – 800 Euro, 240 mm EDS Sport clutch kit – 1100 Euro and Quaife differential lock – 900 Euro plus engine adjustment by EDS Fahrzeugtechnik for 1000 Euros.

Along with the 9-5 and 9-3 range, Saab will also show a concept car hinting at the future design language. Infiniti M35h UK Pricing Announced Posted: 24 Feb 2011 07:07 AM PST Infiniti has confirmed Pricing of the new M35h or M hybrid as some call it. We already know that the US MSRP for this car is $53,700. In the UK they’ve priced it from £46,840. That sounds like a lot, but then the M35h is a premium car in the first place and this hybrid version is literally a no-compromise model. With 364 PS (359bhp) it’s easily powerful enough for a fun drive (0-62mph acceleration in just 5.5 seconds) or comfortable cruise and at 40.4 mpg with 162g/km CO2 it is also economical and environmentally friendly enough to be known as a green car. The car also comes with a long list of standard features and equipments just as you expect from a luxury sedan. The RHD M35h is offered in GT Premium model in Britain and is fitted as standard with innovative new hybrid electric power steering and regenerative braking, a hybrid dashboard display showing energy flows and a low-speed audible warning system (VSP) to help ensure the safety of pedestrians and other road users. The list of equipments include premium heated and ventilated semi-aniline leather front seats, White Ash wood trim with silver powder finish, bi-Xenon lights with adaptive front lighting system, power seats and steering column with heated steering wheel, a 30GB HDD navigation system with high-res touch screen, 3D graphics and Michelin Guide information, Forest AirTM climate control and a 16-speaker Bose® Premium surround sound system. In the Dynamic Safety Shield, the M35h GT Premium has one of the most comprehensive anti-crash technologies available with systems that include Blind Spot InterventionTM, Intelligent Cruise Control (ICC) and Lane Departure Warning (LDW) and Prevention (LDP). It is expensive, but it’s worth every penny! The full M range pricing for the UK is as follows:

British Coachbuilder Buys Spyker Posted: 24 Feb 2011 06:48 AM PST As Saab s celebrating its first year of independence, their owner Spyker is selling its whole car business to CPP Global Holdings, a premium coachbuilding company based in Coventry, UK. Now we and some other people thought Spyker is doing well when they acquired Saab, and to be honest they are. So this decision is a bit surprising. Of course the owners of the Dutch brand have made lots of weird decisions throughout the years. Like that time when they decided to launch an F1 team and blew up a big pile of money with no good outcome. This is what happens when you make drugs legal in a country! The purchase price would be 32 million Euros, 15 million Euros of which would be paid immediately upon the finalisation of the deal, with the remaining 17 million Euros to be paid over a six year ‘earn-out’ period. Porsche Semper Vivus At Geneva Motor Show Posted: 24 Feb 2011 06:35 AM PST We thought that Porsche’s main star at this year’s Geneva Motor Show will be a hybrid sportscar of the Panamera hybrid. But turns out it is a 111-year-old hybrid called the Semper Vivus! Well, not exactly that, but a recreation of the world’s first functional full hybrid car. The Semper Vivus which means always alive dates back to 1900 and is a creation of Ferdinand Porsche, founding father of the present-day Dr. Ing. h.c. F. Porsche AG, Stuttgart who had invented the basics of the hybrid vehicle. They spent four years at Porsche Museum recreating this magnificent vehicle so it can once again, after 111 years on, drive into the limelight at the Geneva Motor Show 2011 followed by future appearances as part of the Porsche Museum collection in Stuttgart. 2011 is the year of hybrid cars for Porsche. At Geneva they will also show the 918 RSR concept race car that makes its European debut, and the aforementioned Panamera Hybrid. They also showcase a contemporary parallel full hybrid model. In the wake of the success of the Cayenne S Hybrid it signals a new chapter in the Stuttgart company's 'Porsche Intelligent Performance' philosophy. Other cars on display at Porsche’s booth include the 330 hp (243 kW) Cayman R in Europe for the first time, alongside the the 911 Black Edition, limited to 1,911 units, based on the 345 hp (254 kW) 911 Carrera, and the Boxster S Black Edition, limited to 987 units worldwide.
Hyundai ix20 Awarded Five Star EuroNCAP Rating Posted: 24 Feb 2011 06:14 AM PST The newest small Hyundai of them all proved to be just as brilliant as other new models by the Korean car maker from the get go. Hyundai ix20 has just been awarded five star safety rating by EuroNCAP, which is a good achievement for a B-segment MPV. The car received a class-leading score of 85% in the 'child occupant protection' category, performing well in both the 18-month-old and three–year-old assessments. In the 'adult occupant' and 'pedestrian' categories, the Hyundai attained competitive scores of 89% and 64% respectively. Electronic stability program and a seatbelt reminder system contributed to the ix20's score of 71% in the 'safety assist' category. Hyundai's thorough safety program yielded maximum points in the 'side barrier impact' assessment as well as good protection against whiplash in rear-end impacts. The ix20 is the fourth consecutive Hyundai model to achieve this after the i20 supermini, i30 hatchback and ix35 C-segment SUV.

Nissan Juke Gets Five Star EuroNCAP Rating Posted: 24 Feb 2011 06:03 AM PST Nissan’s funny looking crossover, the Juke, has been quite successful since its launch. That’s partly due to its insane looks, and partly because it is actually a very fine car. The Five Star Euro NCAP Rating further confirms that. The Juke scored an 87 per cent adult protection rating and 81 per cent for child occupant protection with maximum points for its protection of the dummy representing a three-year-old child. It is an incredible achievement considering the shape of that body and proves that Nissan has put a great effort into the engineering as well. The stability of the passenger compartment in the front impact also contributed to Juke's rating as did its performance in child pedestrian protection. Standard safety equipment on all Juke models includes ESP stability control and six airbags. Since it’s launch back in September 2010, Nissan has delivered a remarkable 32,000 units of the Juke just in Europe! The biggest markets so far are the UK, France and Italy. Like QASHQAI before it, Juke is bringing new customers to the Nissan brand with some 80 per cent being conquest sales. More on the Nissan Juke: Five versions of Juke are available, four petrol and one diesel, all with the one five-door body style that blends SUV toughness with coup? style. Power outputs range from 81kW (110PS) to 140kW (190PS) with manual or XTRONIC CVT transmission, 2WD or 4WD options. At the top of the range is a four-wheel drive version powered by an all-new turbocharged 1.6-litre petrol engine with direct injection. It uses the latest generation ALL-MODE 4x4i with torque vectoring for enhanced agility and reduced understeer when cornering. Equipment grades follow the established Nissan practice with entry level Visia, mid-grade Acenta and range topping Tekna versions. As well as ESP and six airbags, standard equipment across all grades includes air conditioning and a CD/radio with Aux-in facility. On higher grades, equipment can include full climate control, a rear-view parking camera, Nissan Connect satellite navigation and, a new development, the Nissan Dynamic Control System which gives the driver the option to optimise the car's dynamic performance through a sports and eco mode.
Alpina B5 Touring Debuts at Geneva Motor Show Posted: 23 Feb 2011 11:18 PM PST BMW’s most charismatic tuner Alpina announced the new B5 Bi-Turbo Touring based on the 2011 BMW 5 series Touring for debut at the upcoming Geneva Motor Show. This estate version of the B5 sedan features the same amazing treatment and gets the twin-turbocharged 4.4 liter V8 that delivers 507 PS and more than 700 Nm. In other words it is a BMW M5 for those who can’t wait for the real thing! The car uses an eight-speed ZF automatic transmission but given its size and weight it is slightly slower than the sedan version. Zero to 100 km/h takes 4.8 seconds, a tenth of a second slower, and the to speed is 300 km/h. Not that shabby after all. In the real world you wouldn’t notice the difference in speed but you will enjoy the better practicality and convenience the Touring offers. Fuel consumption for the B5 touring as Alpina says is 10.9 liter per 100 km with CO2 emissions of 255 g/km. You can now place your order for an Alpina B5 Touring for 98.800 Euro.

Posted: 23 Feb 2011 10:39 PM PST Last night Ferrari officially unveiled the new FF shooting brake during a ceremony in Maranello. They are still yet to release some proper images and videos of the car, but here’s some footage from the unveiling somebody has uploaded to the web! It is apparently filmed from the big screen and therefore has crappy quality, but you will get a good view of the car which will keep you amused until the official material is released. There are also some pictures of the ceremony available for you to see below. UPDATE: Video replaced with the official HQ version! Refresher: Ferrari FF is the first production four-wheel-drive Ferrari and it is also the first mass produced shooting brake vehicle the Italian sportscar maker has come up with. It seats four in a luxurious but rather complicating cabin and is powered by a 660 hp and 683 Nm 6.2 liter V12 unit mated to a double-clutch gearbox. The car also gets an infotainment system, another first for Ferrari, and by the looks of things a camera system for outside view like that of the new Range Rover! Does all this mean Ferrari has come up all soft? Let’s wait and see. Pictures via TeamSpeed and Omniauto
