De Tomaso SLS Official Pictures Posted: 26 Feb 2011 06:25 AM PST So far everybody was wrongfully referring to the new De Tomaso as the SLC. But finally the company decided to join the conversation announcing that it is actually called the SLS! They’ve also released a couple of new clear shots of the car. To be honest it doesn’t matter what they call it, it is still an uninteresting car. Compared to what we remember of old De Tomaso, this is just a fail! The SLS is apparently inspired by BMW X6, or the 5-series GT if you insist, but we’re struggling to see the point of it. I mean who’s gonna choose this car over an X6?! Specially as it will be more expensive. SLS stands for Sport Luxury Sedan in this car which is equipped with four-wheel-drive system and comes with choice of two engines. One if a meaty 550-hp V-8 and the other a 300-hp V-6. They have plans to make 3000 units of the SLS at De Tomaso Automobili S.p.A. plant, a former Pininfarina S.p.A. factory near Turin and in the Livorno factory by the ex-Delphi workers. De Tomaso’s business plan foreseen for a three-model range of aluminum vehicles based on an innovative construction technology called Univis. No that the De Tomaso brand is resurrected, maybe there will be a new Pantera in their future, but don’t hold your breath. Look out for De Tomaso SLS at the Geneva Motor Show next week.

1115-hp Koenigsegg Agera R At Geneva Posted: 26 Feb 2011 05:58 AM PST Good news! You don’t have to be a member of Oman royal family to get the new Koenigsegg Agera R as they’ve announced the official debut of the car at the Geneva Motor Show. So you can buy this hyper car too, well if you have £ 875,000 to pay for an Agera and then an additional £ 132,000 for the R treatment. It is well worth it though, because that money buys you no less than 1,115 hp. That comes from a turbocharged V8 that’s been powering Koenigsegg cars for years. They have not yet announced how fast this car is, but it is certainly very very fast! It only weighs 1,330 kg so its power to weight ratio is better than Bugatti Veyron SuperSport even. But it’s not likely to be faster than the Bugga because it is just not as technologically advanced. It is more of a fancy hypercar than a full-blooded supercar. Koenigsseg kindly throws in their own branded skis with this car but then asks £ 17,593 to provide you with a roof box to carry them! 17 grand for a bloody box dammit! This particular Agera R that will be showed at Geneva also gets a set of £ 7,322 winter tires since it’s commissioned by a Norwegian customer. The Agera R is an amazing car. But come to think of it, you pay in excess of a million Pound for a garage decor! You can’t use it very often and when you get to drive it you can’t go fast enough to enjoy it! You can’t enjoy on the track either because you have to be fully concentrated all of the time just to keep it in check!

2012 Dodge Charger SRT8 Walkaround Video Posted: 26 Feb 2011 05:16 AM PST The newly revealed Dodge Charger SRT8 is already under attack regarding its controversial styling that is a bit hard to fathom! It has such a wide mouth that can make children cry and the Challenger-inspired rear-end doesn’t look right at all. It is a serious performance machine though. With 465-hp and 465 lb-ft of torque at the tap provided by a 6.4L HEMI V8 engine, the Charger SRT8 can put a big smile on your face, almost as big as its own mouth! Check out this walkaround video and see if Chief Engineer David McDonald can convince you it is a fab ride. |
Posted: 26 Feb 2011 05:07 AM PST Those of you with good memories probably remember that Carlsson was the first tuner to announce a kit for the new generation Mercedes CLS. It took them a while to make it, but it’s finally here. And it will makes its premiere at the upcoming Geneva Motor Show and then will become available for you to order. They currently have offers for CLS 350 CDI and the CLS63 AMG. There is a styling kit that suits the CLS very well and consists of an RS front spoiler, a trunk lid wing and a new rear diffuser with two oval tailpipes on each sides of it. they’ve also provided mesh grilles at the front which is a nice touch. Complementing the body kit is the new set of sporty rims. Here you have different choices in terms of design and size – including the new Carlsson-Design 1/10 20-inches – all of them are very advanced technologically for best performance and lightest possible weight. For the suspension, Carlsson tweaks the AIRMATIC system with their C-Tronic components that lowers the car by 30mm. Now let’s talk about the sweet subject of performance! The diesel powered CLS 350 CDI has been given a boost from 265 PS (195 kW) to 320 PS (235 kW) and the torque is jumped from 650 to 780 Newtonmeter as well. That means the 0 to 100 km/h sprint time is reduced from 6,2 to 5,9 seconds. Euro 5 standard is fully covered by this engine. As for the CLS63 AMG, Carlsson managed to raise the power of the new 5.5 Bi-turbo V8 from around 520 PS to 600 PS (441 kW). Of course Carlsson could not let the car go without a nice interior treatment that includes lots of leather, Alcantara, carbon fiber or wood trims depending on the will of customers.

Lamborghini Aventador LP700-4: New Leaked Pictures Posted: 26 Feb 2011 04:41 AM PST Like we said, we are going to see a couple of leaked pictures of the new Lamborghini Aventador LP700-4 everyday – each revealing a part of the car – before its official unveiling. So, here’s more new shots, including one from the interior. These new set of pictures from the most anticipated car of of this year’s Geneva Motor Show clearly shows the back-end, the taillights, the weird exhaust, engine cover and the fact that it still has scissor doors like a proper Lambo should. you also get a shot of the fuel filler cap, the engine bay and the seats which have the same two-tone color combination as the exterior. That’s it for now, but you may rest assured that soon there will be more of the Lamborghini Aventador LP700-4, a lot more.
