Audi A3 Concept At Geneva Motor Show- May Come To India Under Rs. 20 Lakhs Posted: 04 Mar 2011 03:50 AM PST When it comes to German automobile giants Audi is considered no less than Mercedes-Benz and BMW and why should it be, as it offers all what a potential buyer would expect from a reputed company's car line-up. The most striking characteristic of Audi's cars is the similar front design which includes headlamps and the grille. Especially the sedan family literally follow each other in most of the design features. And recently they have added a new member which would carry the same conventional look yet again. We are talking about the Audi A3 Concept recently uncovered at the 2011 Geneva Motor Show. The car is extremely aggressive and blows you away at the first glance. Extremely chunky, macho and whatever you could associate with something completely masculine is what defines the looks of this mean Audi. Wow must be the word coming out of your mouth after looking at the above image. Well the car deserves this much attention and as per unconfirmed reports the car is being planned to be launched in India by 2014 and will compete against the current market leaders like Honda Accord, Skoda Laura, Skoda Superb, Honda Civic, Volkswagen Jetta etc. Audi A3 Sedan Specifications & Features In IndiaExterior

Imported Car Components Will Become Expansive? Posted: 04 Mar 2011 01:16 AM PST Many car makers in India, especially the International players like Volkswagen, BMW, Mercedes Benz, Toyota etc.. import their cars in CKD or completely knocked down unit. This reduces their cost of manufacturing in India and gives them a cost advantage over importing the whole car as a CBU which attracts huge duties. But things are going to change post the Indian Union budget 2011. Though the statements in the budget came in fine print without much detail or clarification on it, the Finance Minister of India declared that the pre-assembled parts such as engines and transmissions will now need to pay 60 percent customs duty and will now be considered as semi-knocked down kit. This change in definition is not only a theoretical change, but a financial change which means a lot of trouble for International car makers who earlier used to get their engines and transmissions under the CKD duty structure may not have to pay higher duties and taxes which will make even small cars with imported components more expansive in India. There has not been details in the budget speech on this point and SIAM has requested clarification on it from Finance Ministry. Hope the clarification will come soon. We are keeping an eye on the situation and will bring you any updates or clarifications as they arrive. Stay tuned in by signing up for our free email newsletter. Mitsubishi EVO Axed To Give Way To Electric Vehicles Projects Posted: 04 Mar 2011 12:46 AM PST End Of One Story Is Beginning Of Another, so is the same for Mitsubishi EVO-X, the performance oriented powerful machines from Mitsubishi. Mitsubishi launched EVO X in India at a big price tag of half-a-crore (5 Million) Indian Rupees owing to more than 100% duties levied on the CBU units in India. The car is truly meant for performance and sports enthusiasts who want a thrilling drive and its not targeted at the masses. Mitsubishi has decided to not continue with EVO X and focus its attention on Electric Vehicles for a more secure and green future. With the ever rising petrol prices and the fossil fuels depleting day by day, it makes sense to be prepared for tomorrow today. I don't know what more to say than "Good Bye EVO X!" Honda Jazz With CVT Transmission On The Cards For Indian Market? Posted: 03 Mar 2011 10:30 PM PST Honda has been an amazing competitor for the Indian market and a smart player as well. Considering the sedan segment the company is extremely successful with its iconic products Honda City and Honda Accord. As far as the small car segment is concerned we all know that inspite of offering a quality product like Honda Jazz the company failed to leave the the customers spellbound. But let me tell you the Jazz is not as unsuccessful in other global markets as it is in India and has been able to create an identity for itself. For the European market the company will start selling the new Honda Jazz Hybrid, recently unveiled at the 2011 Geneva Motor Show by the mid of 2011 and the car certainly carries the oomph factor this time.
The impressiveness of this new model comes with the implementation of a CVT automatic transmission box which adds a lot to the substance of an ideal powerful yet economical hatchback. But the part of interest is not Jazz Hybrid but a new model sporting a 1.2 Litre MPFI petrol engine, coupled with the same CVT transmission which also features paddle shifters for the same. This new 1.2 Litre variant will be heading for the UK market soon and will also sport a couple of new features including:-
Will India get this new model? This remains to be a question but we expect it to come to company's notice that even the Indian's are keen to see some new refreshment and what better that this model.
