It is just about time for Mercedes to replace their high performance SUV ML63 with a new one. Here’s a good speculative rendering based on the latest spyshots of the car. Although it’s a bit too soon to say for sure how the car looks like, but undoubtedly it will feature some of the design cues from other Mercedes models. In this rendering we see the headlights of the new CLS, which surprisingly suit the ML. The car is also expected to get slightly bigger, more on the par with the GL, and features an all-new rear-end design. Maybe this time it won’t look like a tall van! As for the engine, expect to see the new 5.5 liter Biturbo V8 in this car instead of the current 6.3 liter unit. Not only the new engine is more efficient, it will also produce significantly more power. AMG will make sure the car gets what it needs to rival BMW X5 and X6M and Porsche Cayenne Turbo. New York Auto Show or Frankfurt IAA show will see the new ML63 AMG in its full glory. source: Automobile-Magazine.fr |
| Nissan LEAF Gets 5,000 Euro Incentive In France Posted: 31 Mar 2011 08:24 AM PDT
During the EVER Monaco expo Nissan announced official pricing for the LEAF electric car in France, and it starts at EUR 30,990, with 5 grand incentive from the French government. Principality of Monaco is a huge fan of electric cars and green motoring, so it was the perfect place for Nissan who is also an sponsor of EVER Monaco – an annual automotive show dedicated to ecological vehicles and renewable energies in the region – to promote the LEAF as it’s preparing for market launch in France. To make this form of electric motoring more accesible for more people, the LEAF will also be available through a private finance scheme. The customer can choose the offer period (from 37 to 49 months), as well as the amount of their first deposit and optional services such as maintenance or credit insurance. For example, with a deposit of €5,339.44 (after the government's incentive), the Nissan LEAF will be available for just €499 per month for 37 months. After three years, the customer has the option of keeping the car, trading it in for a new one or handing it back to Nissan. That’s of course for the rest of France, since citizens of the principality are generally rich enough to afford at last a couple of hundreds of them! Order books for Nissan LEAF in France will open on April 4. If you are not familiar with the LEAF, this electric-powered hatchback has an AC motor develops 80 kW of power and 280 Nm of torque, enough for a maximum speed of 145 km/h (90 mph). The electric motor is powered by an advanced laminated lithium-ion battery with a power output of more than 90 kW. It offers a range of 175 km on one charge. The car is also very well equipped with features such as air conditioning, Intelligent Key, Bluetooth connection, a parking camera and a quick charge socket. |

Yes, this is the Alfa Romeo Zagato TZ3 Corsa revealed last year at the Concours d'Elegance Villa D'Este. But now it’s heading into limited production as Alfa Romeo TZ3 Stradale. The gorgeous concept car is Zagato’s tribute to Alfa’s 100 years of motorsport heritage. The Corsa is indeed a racing car, but the Stradale will be a road-going version of it, reportedly based on underpinnings of Dodge Viper. Quite a recipe, then. It is not clear for now how like the Corsa the Stradale will look, but one thing’s for sure, it will retain the concept car’s shooting brake design. In fact some say the warm welcome that Ferrari FF Shooting Brake received – as its first year of production is already sold out – convinced Alfa officials to make the Stradale. The Corsa used a V8 engine out of Alfa 8C Competizione, but the Stradale is more likely to get Viper’s 600+ PS V10 engine. That said, the Alfa will probably be a bit more sophisticated than the Viper, which to all intents and purposes was a vicious animal. With the current shooting brake trend going on, we’re kinda worried they even make the next Viper an SB! via: AutoBild

| Chevrolet Mi-ray Hybrid Concept Posted: 31 Mar 2011 06:26 AM PDT
Just out of the blue Chevrolet reveals an amazing concept car at the Seoul Motor Show called the Mi-ray. Developed by GM’s Korean branch, it is a sporty hybrid roadster, three things that Chevrolet has never been known for! But there’s a first time for everything, right? So Chevy is taking its chances with the Mi-ray to explore a new market. The name Miray which means ‘future’ in Korean also hints at new possibilities for GM with this car. It also celebrates Chevrolet brand’s 100th anniversary. The aggressive and rather cartoonish design of the Miray is inspired by modern jet fighters. The front and rear fenders evoke Chevrolet Corvettes of the past and express the concept's sports car spirit, while the wings and spoilers boost its sporting appeal. The car’s also got retractable flaps fro better airflow. They also cover the the charge port on one side and the fuel filler on the other. That’s a very nice touch. Speaking of charge port, the Mi-ray is an electric hybrid with a powertrain consisting of a 1.5L turbocharged 4-cylinder engine; twin 15-kW electric motors and mid-mounted 1.6-kWh lithium-ion battery pack. It uses a dual-clutch transmission (DCT) and start-stop system. The Mi-ray has the capability of being switched from front-wheel drive to rear-wheel drive. This system in combination with the Carbon fiber body and aluminum chassis make the car very economical. Projected fuel economy rating for the Miray is 3.92L /100km city and 3.73L /100km highway. Other technical features of the car include 20-inch wheels in front and 21-inch wheels in the rear with 245/35/20 and 295/30/21 tires, Double wishbone type front and rear and Ventilated disk front and rear.

The 3.0-litre TDV6 diesel engine is for those Range Rover buyers who care more about fuel economy than power. Now Unichip is offering a clean, fast and affordable way to boost it up a bit. The new 'U-connect' plug and play for easy DIY installation ECU kit from the British electronics masters offers an extra 22 bhp and 23 lb.ft of torque and can be fitted to all Range Rover 3.0-litre TDV6 models from September 2009. The TDV6 has 259 bhp and 502 lb.ft of torque in its standard form. With Unichip’s Uni-Q kit the output goes up to 281 bhp at 3031 rpm and 525 lb.ft at just 2241 rpm. It results in enhanced low speed pulling ability for towing, caravanning, off-road performance and overtaking. Unichip says that despite the extra power, TDV6′s 30 mpg fuel economy remains intact. Pricing for this kit is set at a reasonable £423.

Volvo XC90 has been around with the same design for donkey’s years. Volvo does not like to change it, and why would they, it’s brilliant. So local tuner Heico Sportive comes in to pick up the slacks. Heico’s discrete but surprisingly elegant six-bit body kit includes add-on parts for front and rear bumpers which give the car a sportier look without being too flash. It also gets new side skirts, a rear diffuser thingy and four AMG-style tailpipes. You may also order different set of wheels for your taste but be careful because big wheels not only ruin the looks of car – since it’s a family wagon – it also messes with ride and handling. This is a great and very useful kit because there are lots of XC90 owners out there who are perfectly happy with their practical and comfortable Volvo, but are getting kinda bored with its looks. Such kits can liven things up a bit for them. It can be fitted to XC90s from 2007 onwards.

| Video: 2013 Chevrolet Malibu Teased Posted: 31 Mar 2011 12:12 AM PDT
In spite of its fancy name, Chevy Malibu has always been a rubbish car to be honest! It’s all about to change though, as the new model gets a fresh new design and European-like dynamics. GM has released these teaser picture and video to let us know they will be unveiling the new Malibu on April 18 simultaneously at the Shanghai Auto Show and on Chevrolet's Facebook page. The Malibu show car will also be shown at the New York International Auto Show, which is open to the public April 23 through May 1. Based on what we see here, the new Chevy Malibu is a handsome sedan which mercifully doesn’t share a single line with previous models. It appears to be inspired by the design of the Camaro, at least that’s what the taillight in the picture above suggests. The new Malibu is Chevrolet's first midsize car to be sold globally. It will be sold in nearly 100 countries on six continents and built in multiple locations, including China and two facilities in the United States. The car will be launched next year as a 2013 model.

We were hoping at this year’s Seoul Motor Show Kia reveals a preview of the new sports roadster they’re working on. But instead they are giving us this thing called Naimo which means square shape! The Naimo is an electric vehicle and classifies as a zero-emissions, five-door, four-seater city car electric crossover utility vehicle (CUV), featuring a simple, solid and muscular. It does have some nice designer touches though, such as wrap-around windscreen and asymmetric sunroof, and the front and rear dot-style LED head- and positioning-lamps. It also has a high-intensity air jet at the base of the windscreen that performs an 'air wiper' function instead if conventional wipers and cameras instead side mirrors. Inside the hand-crafted cabin Korean oak is used to trim the interior door panels and the entire interior floor, Korean "Han-ji" paper is used for the head lining. The Kia concept also gets transparent organic light emitting diode display instrument panel and full connectivity, much like its Hyundai sister the Blue2. In terms of power the Naimo has a Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor backed by twin-pack 27 kWh battery with Lithium Ion Polymer technology. It has 80 kW (109 ps) and maximum torque of 280 Nm, top speed of 150 kph (93 mph), and a driving range of 200 km (124 miles) on a single charge. To enhance range, the showcar is fitted with special low-drag 20-inch diameter alloy wheels. Like all other electric cars, charging the Naimo is a time consuming task as it takes five and a half hours. But using the quick recharging cycle (50 kW) the Naimo's battery can be recharged to 80 percent of its capacity within 25 minutes.

Hyundai revealed a new concept car called the Blue2, to be shown at their home motor show in Seoul. It is a FCEV or Fuel Cell Electric Vehicle and features an unusual design. The Blue2 ("Blue square") is not on the par with other new Hyundai models design-wise and introduces a new language which might replace the current successful Fluedic Sculpture philosophy. They call it 'Intersected Flow'. This being a futuristic concept, Hyundai has packed it with some amazing technologies. The highlight of the car is a new infotainment system with Transparent Organic Light Emitting Diode (TOLED) monitor and ultra-light tempered glass, called Gorilla Glass, providing more accurate and vivid graphic information. The infotainment system is operated by a Motion Sensor Moustick, a haptic wheel and motion sensor that respond to the driver's touch and hand movements, respectively, giving drivers a new experience. What’s more the car has a system that recognizes the driver and automatically opens the door for him, thus enhancing convenience. It also gets side cameras and a roof camera instead of conventional mirrors. The Blue2 is also good for your health as it comes with an ionizer freshens the air inside the vehicle and antibacterial genuine leather with leaf-shaped patterns, called 'eco-graphic perforation! The car’s fuel cell powertrain powered by Hydrogen makes 90kW(1.65kW/L) with fuel economy of 34.9km/L and features low-resistance tires and alloy wheels which are designed to improve aerodynamic performance. The name 'Blue2' is a combination of Hyundai's sub eco-brand 'Blue Drive' and the number `2' from H2, the symbol for hydrogen gas.
