BMW X3 Sports Activity Vehicle is reportedly being scheduled for a launch during the mid of 2011 and the confirmation we get comes from the launch of BMW 6 Series convertible sedan launch in Udaipur. On this very special occasion when the official introduction of 6 series took place, the company unhesitatingly announced the prices of the upcoming X3. Although no launch date has been declared for the SUV yet, we expect it to come after mid of May 2011. The car is stunning in looks and impressive in performance and will race against amazing cars like Volvo XC60, Audi Q5 and Land Rover Freelander 2.
With the new crossover down the line, the company's expectations are high. The car will be offered with two engine options, one being a xDrive25i petrol and the other xDrive20d diesel. Surprisingly the company will retain the current engines for the X3 and will not introduce the latest engines owing to the new excise duty of 30% imposed by the Indian Government on CKD units. BMW X3 SUV xDrive20d Diesel Specifications IndiaWhile the petrol one is more powerful this diesel variant is expected to show more sales figures. This 2.0 Litre diesel heart will churn out a maximum power of 175 BHP and a much higher peak torque of 350 Nm. Ford India started its Chennai plant in January 2010 for assembling Ford engines for Indian cars as well as for export demand. The plant has achieved the 100,000 milestone among the multiple variant launches for domestic and international markets. Chennai plant is the first Ford facility to feature a flexible production line manufacturing petrol and diesel engines. At present, the plant produces five Duratec petrol engine variants and one Duratorq diesel engine variant for Ford cars.

Honda SIEL is witnessing many car buyers preferring other brand cars because of lack of diesel engine options with Honda. Honda sells only petrol cars in India as of now. Talking of the global markets, Honda has only one Diesel Engine which is the 2.2 Litre i-CTDi engine which is fitted in Honda Accord, Honda CRV and Honda Civic in some countries. In India, we have seen recent launch of a lot of Diesel cars right from the basic hatchbacks to the premium segment cars, but Honda is missing the diesel products in all of these segments in India. But this is going to change in the next two years with Honda coming up with a smaller capacity Diesel engine, which will be close to 1.5 Litre in displacement and about 100 BHP in power. The new diesel engine will be highly efficient and will be fitted in the next generation Honda Civic 2012.
There has been an official announcement by the Honda UK managing director David Hodgetts that the small engine is under development and will be introduced next year 2012 in Honda Civic 2012. The new engine might also be offered in Accord and Honda Jazz. Honda Civic with smaller Diesel engine car will be most likely displayed at the Frankfurt Motor show in September 2011 and will be launched in the beginning of 2012 in Europe. We are expecting that the Diesel version of Honda Civic will hit the Indian markets by late 2012 or early 2013. Lets see if Honda has any plans for a Diesel engine for Honda City in India, because we are expecting the new engine to power the City as well. The reason behind this expectation is the popularity of Volkswagen Vento Diesel and Maruti SX4 Diesel which are already hitting on the sales of Honda City in India.
