| 2012 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 Video Posted: 29 Mar 2011 11:29 AM PDT So the first video which gives you a proper look at the new Camaro ZL1 comes courtesy of Motor Trend. They’ve been present at the car’s official studio shoot and filmed it from almost every angle inside and out. And you know what, now that we get to see it more, the ZL1 doesn’t look just as good as the first time we saw it! Have no idea why, but it now looks kinda childish. Or maybe that’s the red paintjob and that stripe, maybe it’s better in all-black. One thing we sure liked about the ZL1 is the amazing soundtrack of that 550+ hp V8. |

And he tops it all off with this one, the very special Iacocca Mustang. What’s more he also interviews Lee Iacocca. Jay describes this guy as one of his automotive heroes, which is not a surprise since Mr. Iacocca is the father of Mustang. He brings along his own special ‘Stang, and Jay takes it out for a spin. Since this car is Lee’s personal Jay doesn’t want to burn the rubber off it, at first! But at the end he couldn’t resist a good old burnout in honor of this legend. |

APS of Brackley has teamed up with American tuner STaSIS Engineering to present the Audi R8 V10 Challenge Extreme Edition package in Britain. This special model develops a massive 710 bhp. The Challenge Extreme packages are available now at £45,000, and for that you get 710 bhp and 523 lb.ft of torque which means it can do 0 to 60 mph in 3.1 seconds. It also gets dynamic suspension and braking upgrades which they say satisfy both criterias of city driving and track fun. The car also gets 20-inch lightweight wheels and a few minor styling tweaks. This package is pricey, but let’s be honest a 3 second acceleration and 710 bhp are not figures that you can take for granted. Plus, Audi R8 V10 is not a cheap car in the first place! MEC Design was supposed to release their kit for the Mercedes SLS in February, but there’s a slight delay and the car will be revealed this May. They’ve provided us with some 3D images of the finished product though. As these sneak peak images show, the revised bumper of the SLS gets a 1 or 2 piece front spoiler which can also be ordered in carbon fiber. New LED lights are also available as options. For the rear, they offer of 3 different looking diffusers – Extreme, GT3 or Formula which are all also available in a Carbon finish. The highlight of this kit are side skirts with LED lighting which are illuminated every time you open and close the doors. Other parts include rear spoiler, rear window spoiler and the roof air intake, all also available in carbon fiber. MEC has not revealed yet what kind of wheels and in what size they will offer for the car, but we will find out soon as the car will be available from May 2011.

Some local newspapers are reporting that Finland’s last Formula 1 world champion Kimi Raikkonen has signed a deal to race in NASCAR series in America later this year. Well, we cannot blame him! He achieved Formula 1 world title in 2007, then he tried rallying with decent performance and is now looking for a new field to satisfy his love of speed. The Nascar deal however might conflict with his ongoing WRC career. As you know Kimi has already signed up for eight rounds of this year’s World Rally Championship in which he drives a Citroen DS3 WRC of the junior team. He’s got a bunch of sponsors there who definitely want him to accomplish something for them! Kimi is apparently going to keep both careers for now, specially as he will start his Nascar adventure in the Truck series before he qualifies to the Sprint cup and other nationwide series. But Kimi apparently sees his future brighter in North America.
Kimi Raikkonen has been and will always be our favorite racing driver not because of his performance, although he is a brilliant driver with great achievements, but because of his cool and laid back attitude. The first major international award for the new Range Rover Evoque is a good one. The compact SUV achieved ‘Car Design of the Year’ award in 201 Car Design News awards. The Evoque beats the gorgeous Alfa Romeo Giulietta and the magnificent Audi A7 to win the award. That is no surprise frankly, because Range Rover Evoque is just such a fantastic looking car. You see it, you want it! There is no other car around that looks anything like it. It looks just right from every angle in its both three and five-door variants, and it’s not just the aesthetics either. That great design is also very well engineered for functionality and practicality. That we think is the main reason they picked it over the purely artistic Alfa Romeo. This sure is the start for the Evoque and it will snatching many more awards and loads more sales. Car Design of the Year Award represents the opinions of automotive designers, including a number of leading industry Design Directors who sit on the judging panel. | 330 km/h Mercedes C63 By Wimmer Posted: 29 Mar 2011 06:10 AM PDT
Wimmer Rennsporttechnik has already tuned Mercedes C63 AMG several times, but they can’t stop. Here’s the latest C63 which they call Performance because it’s so darn fast! Don’t let that cartoonish paint job fool you, this is a serious machine. The 6.3 liter V8 under the bonnet has been heavily revised and modified with stuff like sports camshaft, reworked cylinder head, high performance manifolds, down pipe and high flow catalytic converters, optimized air intake, a stainless steel exhaust system and a sport air filter. The result is a massive 601 hp and 720 Nm of torque. While optimizing engine electronics, Wimmer has also unlocked the top speed limiter so the car can now achieve a top speed of 329 km/h. That’s its party piece. To cope with the speed, Wimmer provides the car with BBS CH-R alloy wheels in dimensions of 8.5 or 9.5 x 19 inches, wrapped in Dunlop tires in the dimensions of 235/35-19 at the front axle and 265/35-19 at the rear axle as well as uprated suspension. Going this fast in a Mercedes C63 is awesome but it’s also quite expensive as the engine tuning alone costs 19,900 Euro.

The new Generation VW Scirocco which has been revived after many years of absence was indeed one of the most successful resurrections in the automotive history. This magnificent car also has a great customization potential. Which is why after three years in the market, tuners can still come up with fresh ideas for modifying it. Here’s what Nurnberg-based tuner CSR Automotive has come up with to create a unique Scirocco. Their body kit includes a single-frame front grille, side skirts and a rear apron from the O-Line-Design, the upper and lower rear wings, "bad-look" headlight trims and a stainless steel rear silencer with suitable outlets. What’s a pity is those carbon-look bits on the body which are actually foil and not real carbon. That’s uncool, but then using real carbon fiber would have raise the cost of the car beyond affordability. For the wheels, they went to Schmidt Revolution and picked their insane Cirrus rims with carbon-look parts. These turbine-design wheels come in size 8.5×20″ with 235/30 ZR20 tires from Toyo at the front or 10.5×20″ with 285/25 ZR20 at the rear axles. Not sure sure if they’re very pretty, but they’re certainly unique. A complete set costs 3400 Euro.

This tuning kit for the pre-facelift Mercedes CL is actually very timely because with the introduction of the new model, prices for this version are constantly falling down. So you can pick up a good one for not much money and then trick it out to get more power and style with this VATH kit. First off, they tweak the 5.5 liter V8 which in its standard form makes something kike 380 hp. When VATH is done with it though, it’ll be capable of 460 horsepower and 600 Nm of torque. That’s because it gets new sport exhausts, new air intake system and camshafts as well as a remapped ECU. They’ve also upgraded the car’s cooling system to cope with the extra power. VATH then set about making the CL look a bit better with new 20-unch wheels wrapped in 245/30ZR20 front and 285/25ZR20 rear, and some carbon fiber garnish for the exterior including front spoiler lip, boot lid wing, and rear diffuser. For the interior you get sport steering wheel covered in suede, carbon fiber trimming for the dashboard and a new instrument cluster with 360 km/h speedometer. They have not revealed the price for this package yet.

| Video: Mika Hakkinen Drives Caparo T1 Posted: 29 Mar 2011 01:41 AM PDT Goodwood Festival of Speed gave the guys from EVO magazine UK a chance to think of a memorable event. They hooked up with the former Formula 1 world champion Mika Hakkinen and went for drive with him in a Caparo T1, a car that is the most realistic attempt yet for making a road-going Formula 1 car and is also known as one of the most dangerous cars around! It wasn’t that long ago when the Caparo burned test driver Jason Plato quite badly. This time they have two guys in the car so it would be really bad if things go wrong. Fortunately though the car behaved itself and Mika also did a goof job taming it. Check out this unusual but nice video and enjoy the car’s soundtrack coming from its race-bred V8. |

BMW keeps making special edition versions of the M3 for the Chinese market. They are just normal M3s with a Tiger added to the title and some new paint! That is basically it, some new color and badge and you have to pay way more than a normal M3 for it. Before this they had launched another Tiger edition for the Chinese in a fiery orange paint which was sold out too quickly. So they came up with this one which features a matte black paint job. These kind of paint jobs are really cool and beautiful, but they need special care and maintenance or, as there’s been many reported cases, they will be ruined very quickly. BMW M3 Tiger Matte Special Edition also comes with some bits and pieces from the competition package including 19-inch high-gloss rims which are optional for normal M3s, red brake calipers, black chrome side air intakes and exhaust tips as well as carbon fiber trimming and red stitching for the interior. The power comes from the same 420-hp V8 engine as in the standard models.

And all it does is make it harder to wait for the release of the film which is set for 3rd June in UK. 'Senna' documentary which chronicles the life of the extraordinary Brazilian racing driver and sporting hero Ayrton Senna, recently won the World Cinema Audience Award for Documentary Films at Sundance film festival. An absolute must-see. |
| Aston Martin Virage Review Video Posted: 29 Mar 2011 01:04 AM PDT The guys at Britain’s first car magazine Autocar are usually the first media to get to test drive brand-new models, and their reviews are usually best of the lot. here’s their take on the new 2012 Aston Martin Virage, a new British super GT which slots between the nice and comfi DB9 and the sporty DBS. Autocar quite rightfully has its criticisms about this car, because to be honest it feels they just wanted to fill a gap in the market with the Virage and it’s not designed to be as good as it could be. Still, it’s a new Aston and that’s what matters. Who cares if it’s just a DB9 with Rapide’s headlights! |

Modern cars are packed with electronic stuff, and they sure have their uses. But god forbid if something goes wrong with them! Like what happened for the 2011 Volkswagen Jetta. They’ve issued a recall for 71,043 2011 model year Jettas in order to reconfigure a wiring layout associated with the anti-theft alarm system and horn. Apparently sometimes when the driver honks the horn, it triggers the anti-theft system for no good reason and that shuts the car down! No injuries or accidents have been reported as a result of this condition, but I’m sure it has made a number of Jetta owners really pissed off. Volkswagen has scheduled free repair for all affected models and will notify the owners via first class mail. |

But you have never seen it through the eyes of a super special one-off racing car, James Glickenhaus’ Ferrari P4/5 Competizione. The car has been round the track doing some tests with driver Luca Cappellari, until his session came to an end by a red flag. He managed to capture some amazing footage of the legendary race track for us though. |

Along with the new BMW 5 Series, Wald is also preparing a Black Bison kit for the 2011 Mercedes CLS and here’s a preview of it. Not quite as charming as their Bimmer, but good. Black Bison treatment for the Mercedes means heavily revised bumpers, unique side skirts, a big rear diffuser plus bootlid and roof spoilers. In this case the car has also got buffed up fenders and new side gills. The good thing about Bison kits is that they’re completely different than any other aftermarket styling package there are. For that little extra something, Wald also fiddles with the suspension and lowers it to some extent, and bolts on big wheels on it. Of course you have the choice to order different rims.
