Video: 2011 Hennessey Venom GT Dyno Test Posted: 22 Jun 2011 09:06 AM PDT Click here to view the embedded video. You might have seen Hennessey Venom GT on dyno before, but since every engine is bespoke to every ordered car, they’re a bit different. Here’s a new dyno test of a 6.2 liter supercharged V8, and well, it sounds like like it’s got a million horsepower! Besides the power and the sounds, the way they arranged the turbochargers and the exhaust pipes is a artwork. Specailly when they glow red! We can’t get enough of good V8s like this one.
Toyota GRMN Concept II Hybrid Sportscar Posted: 22 Jun 2011 09:00 AM PDT The GRMN II is Toyota’s latest hybrid concept, although it looks like it belongs to the previous century. It’s somehow not sleek enough for a modern concept! The interior for instance looks pretty old. On the whole though, it looks good and fancy, the GRMN (GAZOO Racing1 tuned by MN2) could be the base for a new MR2. This hybrid sportscar is powered by a mid-mounted gasoline-electric drivetrain and features AWD system. You get 245 hp from the petrol unit and some 50 hp form the electric motor that feeds the front wheels. Toyota has been working on a sporty hybrid car like this for a few years. They’ve even revealed a prototype at last year’s Tokyo motor show. So it eventually will result in a production hybrid sportscar, but the looks and the specs are yet to be decided. Toyota will be showing the GRMN II to the public at the Nurburgring 24 hours this weekend, and then at the Goodwood FoS in July.
1 A vehicle-development and motor-sports support program created by GAZOO, which also operates the GAZOO.com customer-participation portal site launched in 1998, "GAZOO mura" driving events and the "Drive Kingdom" large-scale test-drive events for the general public. 2 Stands for "Meister of Nürburgring", referring to Hiromu Naruse (1944-2010), a TMC test driver and chief of the GAZOO Racing team.

Posted: 22 Jun 2011 08:38 AM PDT Magnat might not be a famous name in the tuning world, but they are about to become famous thanks to jobs like this Porsche 911 GT3. They’ve picked the 911 GT3 which is a particularly great car to start with. It has just the right amount of lairiness, not so little like a normal 911, and not too much like a GT2. Then they’ve tweaked it and added more exclusivity to the package. It’s fantastic. The snow white body of the car is complemented by a big black stripe that runs through the entire length of the car, and itself is complemented by other black detailing like the side decals, side skirts, front spoiler and the wheels. Speaking of the wheels, Magant has used 19 inch OZ Ultraleggera HLT for this car with Yokohama Advan tires. With 462 HP and 451 Nm of torque as the result of a remapped ECu and a sport exhaust system, this GT3 is much more fun to drive. The interior must be the best part of this tuning package. There you will find a magnificent blend of leather and Alcantara trimming with white stitching, plus gloss black accents. The GT3 has also been fitted with a top-notch multimedia system with Magnat Black Core 5 channel amplifier and a 10-inch subwoofer.

New Kahn Styling Kit For Porsche Panamera Posted: 22 Jun 2011 08:25 AM PDT Project Kahn has been studying all the other aftermarket kits for the Porsche Panamera, so they can design one that tops them all. This new styling package is a 10-piece wide-body kit, but it’s not shouty and in-your-face. You could even say it’s discrete. Besides the massively flared wheel arches, it also includes rear roof spoiler, front and rear air dams, integrated front LED's with vents. The best feature of the car however, is the new RS600 wheels, which look royal ad luxurious, and still recognizable as a Kahn design. Kahn says they’ve also upgraded the interior with a blend of leather, carbon and wood.

Aston Martin V12 Zagato Racer ‘Zag’ Posted: 22 Jun 2011 05:53 AM PDT Aston Martin released new pictures of the V12 Zagato racer in its official racing livery, as they are putting the final touches to the cars. Two Zagato V12s will be taking part in this year’s Nurburgring 24 hours on 25 and 26 June, nicknamed ‘Zag’ and ‘Zig’. The number 3 race car, nicknamed 'Zag' (red) and will be piloted in the 24 hour race by Aston Martin CEO, Dr. Ulrich Bez, the company's Nürburgring Test Centre Director, Wolfgang Schuhbauer and automotive journalists Horst von Saurma and Matthew Marsh. The green V12 Zagato (nicknamed 'Zig') – car number 5 for the race – will be driven by One-77 Chief Engineer Chris Porritt, experienced sports car driver Oliver Mathai, automotive journalist Richard Meaden and experienced amateur racer Peter Cate. It was prepared by the small team based at Aston Martin's global headquarters in Gaydon, Warwickshire. The Zagatos will be joined by a V8 Vantage GT4 nicknamed ‘Smurf’ (not blue though, orange) and three further customer team V8 Vantages. Video: Dragster Steering Wheel Fail Posted: 22 Jun 2011 05:22 AM PDT Click here to view the embedded video. Generally speaking, you cannot afford to make mistakes in motosport because it usually ends up very ugly. Specailly when you are driving something with a jet engine you double check everything. You set the temperatures just right, warm up the tires, check the harnesses, check the parachute, and everything. But sometimes you miss a big one. Like bolting the steering wheel properly in its place! Although this video is a bit of a giggle, it could very well end in a catastrophe.
Honda CR-Z Mugen Revealed Further Posted: 22 Jun 2011 05:07 AM PDT Honda and Mugen released some new photos and details on the Mugen CR-Z Concept, as it prepares for its debut at this year’s Goodwood FoS. This concept car is a showcase of what Mugen could do with the CR-Z if they could be bothered, which apparently they can’t. This prototype is valued over £150,000 but you can’t buy it and they have no plans to make it, at least not for now. The Mugen CR-Z is thoroughly upgraded to deliver the same sort of performance as a Civic Type-R. That’s a tall order for a 120-hp 1.5-litre i-VTEC petrol engine coupled to a small electric motor. But Mugen’s treatment has raised the power to 200PS and 215Nm of torque. That’s what the standard CR-Z should have had. To cope with the added power, Mugen has also fitted the car with sport suspension, upgraded brakes, and a body kit consisting of Mugen front and rear under spoilers, side skirts, rear wing and 17-inch lightweight forged alloy Mugen GP wheels. Carbon fibre bonnet and doors not only reduce the overall weight of the car but enhance the sporty look, while the eye-catching Brilliant Orange Metallic paint provides the finishing touch. Although you can’t buy this car, Mugen offers some of its parts and components as aftermarket parts:

Jaguar C-X75 Named 2011 Concept Car of the Year Posted: 22 Jun 2011 04:49 AM PDT Jaguar’s futuristic supercar was the star of the show at the 10th annual North American Concept Vehicle of the Year Awards in Detroit. The C-X75 has been named the Most Significant Concept Vehicle of 2011 in addition to receiving the Concept Car of the Year award. That comes as no surprise to those familair with the brand. They are experts of making amazing concept cars. They have no tendency of making them, but they are good at making one-offs! The C-X75 is different though. They are going to make it actually, but the production is strictly limited and the price is so high it basically remains a concept car! The production CX-75 which will be limited to 250 units, arrives in late 2013, and cost between £700,000 – £900,000. Ans it’ not jet-engined like the concept, instead it’ll get a small our-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine accompanied by with two powerful electric motors and four-wheel-drive. North American Concept Vehicle of the Year Awards recognize those vehicles most likely to shape the future of the automobile industry. This year, more than two dozen jurors participated in a selection process that involved a total of 29 vehicles, each introduced to North America during this season’s auto shows in Los Angeles, Detroit, Chicago, Toronto, and New York. Finalists in this year’s Car category also included the Audi Quattro, the Mazda Shinari, and the Porsche 918 RSR Hybrid.

Video: Travis Pastrana Spoofs Ken Block’s Ad Posted: 22 Jun 2011 04:28 AM PDT Travis Pastrana is not as famous as Ken Block, mainly because he’s just not as good a driver! But he and his publicity people believe it is also because Travis is not getting as much media as Ken. How are they gonna solve that? That’s easy, by copying one of Ken’s most popular promo films featuring Monster chicks. They’ve made a spoof of that ad to unveil Pastrana’s new X Games rally livery. You can tell it’s not going to be as successful as Ken’s film though, because of the girls!
Top Gear Season 17 – New Trailer Posted: 22 Jun 2011 04:11 AM PDT With less then a week to go until Top Gear Season 17 starts, here’s a second trailer revealing more details about what the boys are up to this time. Now, some people have been nagging that Top Gear is running out of ideas and the new season will have nothing new to offer. They should remember that Top Gear is, above all, a motoring show and their main job is to test new cars. And they are doing it pretty well. Granted, watching the trio falling over or catching fire might not be just as fun as it used to be, but they’re doing their best to keep it fresh. It’s not like they don’t care! We wish thy could add more studio time to the program, like he olden days, with the guys debating, in the special Top Gear way, about cars. Here’s the first trailer, in case you missed it, and make sure you check out TopGear.com for a bunch Season 17 preview photos.
Ferrari FF Tuning: DMC Maximus Posted: 22 Jun 2011 03:57 AM PDT DMC is working on a tuning kit for the new Ferrari FF which gives it a revised look, and a whole lot of power. Not that the standard 620 hp of the FF is not a lot, but DMC’s car will churn out 888 hp! Now that’s a substantial increase. It will also deliver 862 Nm (636 lb-ft) of torque, which is good for 0-100 km/h in 3.2 seconds, 0- 200 km/h in 9.1 seconds, and onto a top speed in excess of 340 km/h (211 mph). The engine upgrade program consists of twin superchargers, a new intake manifold, enlarged fuel injectors, high-flow air filters, a massive intercooler, and stainless-steel sport exhaust system with 90mm tailpipes. In terms of performance then, DMC Maximus is a job well done. In terms of the styling though, DMC’s modifications are not likely to change the mind of those who have been hating the FF’s looks since day one. At front the car looks like it had an botox overdose, and at the back there is an absolutely massive diffuser. You also get a tail spoiler and new side skirts. The body kit is made of carbon fiber and sheds 70 kg off the weight of the car. Sporty? yeah, elegant and beautiful? no.
